I'm a repeat customer to this lovely clean, friendly hotel; it has a very laid back, relaxed atmosphere, a large, light dining area with an excellent breakfast at a small extra cost, a great location, and offers very good value for money. It's located right next to Perpignan's Gare TGV, SNCF and Gare Routiere (rail and bus stations) so especially good for breaking a journey. The airport bus (line No. 6) costs only 1.50 euro and if you are travelling in from the airport, the bus will drop you off a few feet from the hotel entrance. NB, if you are going the other direction, ie, from the hotel to the airport, the bus route is on a one-way system at this point, so you have a few minutes walk through the railway station (there are lifts and escalators) as the No. 6 bus stop to the airport is on the other side of the railway station, on the same side as the Gare Routiere (bus station). All rooms at the Hotel Paris Barcelone are en suite. Staff are laid back, efficient and friendly. There's no lift, but if you are struggling with baggage, my husband and I have found the receptionist will offer to help you up the stairs to your room, and also when you first arrive if you need help up the stairs at the hotel entrance. We have always found the rooms and en suites clean and the beds comfortable. If you are travelling solo, it's worth paying the extra ten or so euros for a double room - when I was last travelling on my own, I swapped my small single which looked out onto a slightly dull courtyard for a beautiful bright and airy double room with big windows and two little balconies. The hotel operates on fairly conscientious, ethical lines, so your breakfast will mostly be locally sourced (they do a nice breakfast with lovely cheeses, fresh fruit, boiled eggs, honey, various fruit preserves and pastries), and you won't be able to lower the aircon in your room to below 21 deg c. At first I thought the latter restriction was going to be a challenge as I usually have my aircon set lower, but in the event, the temperature in the room was fine. It's nice to see a principled set of young people running things. If you are a coeliac or have other dietary restrictions, let the hotel receptionist know by email (they will email you in response to your booking, an actual person will read if you reply). I tend to bring my own brand of bread that I know and trust, but the hotel staff will get you gluten free bread if you need it. I suggest you bring your own toaster bags if contamination is an issue for you, or at least check in advance if they have anything suitable as there is just the one...
Read moreMy Aug 2025 stay was my third stay at Hôtel PB and I highly recommend the hostel in all ways. Its location across from La Gare is perfect for travelling around the area and within the city using the excellent train and bus services. Ave de Gaulle just around the corner offers many restaurant and shopping options. Walking the length of it and a few minutes more takes you right into the city center. The Hôtel also offers secure luggage storage at a very reasonable price, very handy if you are taking a train that leaves hours after check-out or are waiting for the afternoon check in hour elsewhere. Hôtel PB's staff could not be more friendly, courteous and helpful in all ways. The Hôtel offers a lovely reasonably priced breakfast and sells other delicous food items as well as staples like water, anytime. It also offers their excellent expresso to guests at no charge as long as they help themselves well before or after the busy hours they are serving breakfast to the guests who paid for it. The beds are very comfortable, and when I requested a lower bunk due to my age (77!) they always accomodated me. There are two patios guests are welcome to use. I would often bring back take-out food and enjoy it on their roomy and attractive si de patio. Each of the 3 times I've stayed at Hôtel PB, whether in a larger or smaller dorm, mixed or women's I've enjoyed the company of my dorm-mate and all the facilities, such as the very ample standing locker and lock provided in addition to the usual hostel underbed storage bin, the excellent shower also with sink in a room separate from the toilet room with sink. Unlike many hostels I've stayed in, Hôtel PB offers lush cotton towels free of charge. A/C is not only provided, but there is a thermostat in each dorm so the occupants can regulate the temperature. Extra blankets are also stored in the dorm summer and winter. I will keep coming back to this excellent hostel in a city I've...
Read moreStayed for four nights in early October. Always a pleasant welcome, and stored my bag without drama when I arrived before midday by train (directly opposite).||Looking at previous reviews it appeared my room (214) was refurbished more than twelve months ago but was still pristine. Bathroom fittings were stylish, and indeed the whole hotel as many tasteful artworks displayed. I got the feeling someone has chosen everything from room directional signs to light fittings with great care. The room was small but plenty of open storage, and who comes here to stay in the room anyway? Comfortable bed and no traffic noise despite my room overlooking Avenue General de Gaulle used by many buses.||Breakfast was similarly laid out in an immaculately clean servery. Fresh pastries, a selection of breads and lots of locally-sourced produce – the jams and juices were particularly good and even the coffee was roasted in Perpignan. There was never a queue for anything, including the water heater to boil eggs to your liking. Yogurt and cheese was always available and a selection of fruit changed daily. Definitely worth taking, and the hotel appreciates advance booking. ||The corridor carpets and stairs (no elevator) are getting threadbare, but I suspect they will be shortly replaced. ||The location was great for me. About 10 minutes walk into the central district past snack bars and kebab shops to reach a good selection of restaurants. I used local trains to visit Les Orgues at Ille-sur-Tet and the fortified town of Villefrance-Verdet-Les Bains. The bus (line 3) to Canet Plage and Canet Sud leaves from the other side of the station.||Like every hotel, it is the people who make the experience. All the staff were lovely, and I'd certainly stay...
