A really great find within walking distance of one of my favourite towns. ||||Manoir de Kerangosquer houses its guests in several rooms within a purpose-designed outbuilding, which usefully includes some shared self-catering facilities. Downstairs, there's a nicely specified kitchen and a dining area with an open hearth; upstairs is a lounge with a leather settee and a TV. ||||The venue would be ideally suited to accommodate a group of wedding guests and clearly that's a niche the owners are keen to exploit - there's a large marquee within the grounds and the whole place, with its rolling lawns and superb views, lends itself perfectly to such romantic events.||||We stayed for four nights. The first night we had the whole place to ourselves; thereafter, we saw a succession of guests of various nationalities - but mostly French - come and go.||||Breakfast is served over in the Manoir, where guests sit together around a large table in the elegant dining room. Regional specialities, such as Gateau Breton, augment the traditional French breakfast fayre and provide a sustaining start to the day.||||Pont Aven is about five minutes away by car, but it's much more fun on foot, taking the path down through the wooded grounds of the Manoir to the bank of the Aven and then along the river's edge into town. It takes fifteen minutes or so.||||We really enjoyed our stay at the quiet, restful Manoir de Kerangosquer. Just one tip though - take a pair of slippers; the floors throughout the accommodation are of wood and tile - you don't want to be wearing shoes, but you certainly don't want to...

The house sits elegantly in beautiful grounds with distant views to the port. There is a lovely footpath through the woods that leads to Port Aven and only takes 10 minutes!|Our room called ‘lapin’ was in the out building (no one stays in the Manor House), and is nicely decorated with rabbit wallpaper. The room echoes quite a bit and would benefit from one or two rugs. The bathroom is spacious and clean with a big shower. Towels are not best quality.|The wardrobe is so well disguised by wallpaper that we didn’t discover it until next day. It would have been nice to have this pointed out to us.|Strangely, check-in is not until 6pm but we were lucky to find the owner at home and able to let us in.|I found it very off putting considering the price of the accommodation that the bedroom floor was not properly swept and I had to sweep it myself with a broom. Also several body hairs on top of the duvet. We stayed at six other hotels in this area and they were less expensive but were cleaned properly.|It was wonderful to hear an owl hooting at night and in the morning.|Breakfast is in the main house and guests share one large table in a Grand style room.|No hot food, not even an egg. Bread, cereal and croissant and cheese.|There is a large well equipped kitchen for guests plus a big dining area to eat in and a living room area on the...
Read moreWe didn't have a street number for this accommodation but saw the name 'Kerangosquer' on a sign on an entrance so thought this might be it. Drove down a long driveway and found this large building with other buildings around it. 2 large spaniel dogs did a very poor show of letting the owners know there was someone on the property. No-one came out so we thought we must have had the wrong place. Turns out I didn't read the booking instructions properly as booking in was from 6.00pm and we had turned up at 5 so the owners were out. I have to say that the accommodation was fantastic. The owner told us it was a converted barn. We didn't know there was a fully equipped kitchen or lovely outdoor seating areas around the property plus there is a wonderful view out over the river. There is also an enchanting walk into the lovely village which takes about 15 minutes.....babbling brook and all! Breakfast was in the 'manoir' which was a splendid spread. We would be paying at least double but probably triple the price for this experience in Australia (if you could find...
