The staff was super helpful and put up with my extremely limited French. In fact, they all spoke English well, so I didn't even have to butcher their language much. The hotel is a bit outside of St . Etienne, but you can take bus 38 to the city. Then take tram 1 or 2, or walk if you're feeling peppy, to get to the cool old architecture downtown. Read moreDefinitely a case of first impressions DON'T count. Upon arrival, you drive through a industrial area, but once you pass through the gates, it really is a delightful surprise. Plenty parking, a wonderful welcome from a very organised reception and very spacious rooms. Although the showers have great water pressure, they're a little difficult to position, but some patience and you'll manage just fine. The food was really impressive. Food service is horrible Ordered the med-well filet mignon, it came out super rare.....sent it back to be cooked properly and got served a flank steak instead..... and then was told it was a Filet. Clearly was not. The waiter was perfectly ok with me not getting dinner. No plates for bread. No drink refills.....several tables were serviced way before we were, allbeit they were sat after us.
