Au Coeur Caraibe St Barth — Hotel in Saint Barthélemy

These bungalows are located in Vitet and not St Jean (about a 10-minute drive from St Jean). It makes an interesting drive from Gustavia or St Jean to come here, but it's certainly a nice way to get to know different parts of this small island. We stayed in bungalow Steve which is at a higher lever than the other 3 bungalows, the highlight here is the private deck and the beautiful view that we have. The room is small and a bit outdated, it can certainly use more modern/updated furniture and decor. The outdoor kitchen can also be refurnished and better equipped. Everything is very basic but the highlight of bungalow Steve is certainly the large deck and pool. You can almost spend the entire day here. This is a nice rental for independent guests who know the island well and can be left alone (there will not be daily housekeeping or other daily services), in fact we only see the manager for about 10 minutes in all during our entire stay. We stayed here Feb 2015 for 3 days in the Steve room which is a small studio with bathroom and outdoor kitchenette. Getting there is tricky buy Vi and Flo met us at the airport and we followed them to the cottages. The view from the patio of the lush gardens and pool with the ocean in the distance is fantastic. There is no elevator so those with difficulties climbing stairs should look elsewhere. We enjoyed driving to various parts of the island from here and it would have cost much more to stay closer to St Jean or the other desirable beach areas. We used the shared pool only once and it was wonderful. ||||The shower unfortunately does not drain well and so it will flood after 10 minutes of use and we often had to turn it off and let it drain before resuming our shower. Also, we had to ask for more towels from the maid by emailing Flo although this was easy enough to do. Our lock was broken and Flo had it fixed very quickly. We did meet Patrick the friendly manager near the end of our stay. We would love t visit again and perhaps bring other couples...
