HOTEL RESTAURANT L'ABBAYE — Hotel in Sarlat-la-Canéda

We stumbled across this restaurant while we were wandering around St Cyprien. What a find!! It is an amazing location, up the hill behind the village and with the most spectacular view. We sat on the terrace and had a cocktail, and were then shown to our table which also looked out over the whole valley. The food was delicious, and not just the usual duck that is on the menu at all the tourist restaurants in the Dordogne. The service was delightful - attentive, professional and friendly. We commented on the beautiful wine glasses, and were told that they had been the glasses at her parents' wedding! This is a wonderful restaurant, but the welcome is as warm as if one were eating at the home of good friends. There is parking in a dedicated parking lot...

A pretty ,charming building sensitively renovated & lovingly restored by the Family whose business it was .|All the staff were welcoming & friendly . The Pool area/Gardens & outside dining were well looked after & pretty .|Our room however was slightly smaller than expected with limited storage & the Bathroom was the tiniest we have ever used in a 4 star Hotel .|Unfortunately sleep quality was not brilliant due to the soundproofing in the room so you became acquainted with your neighbours bathroom habits - such a shame .|Other than my comments the family were really doing an excellent job to make their guests feel very welcome & are quite rightly proud of their achievements.|Certainly worth a stay as an ideal area for exploring the surrounding...

Awesome hotel - what a great find!

This recently opened hotel was just perfect. It was exactly what we were looking for - a quiet, gorgeous hotel in a sleepy French town (but a town with all the amenities you need; Weekly market, great bakery, good array of shops, pubs and restaurants with very pretty architecture).

The hotel itself is magic - the owners were delightful and nothing was ever too much trouble. It is the perfect place to chill by the pool and enjoy evening drinks on the terrace. Make sure you have dinner in the hotel as the food is excellent - far better and way less crowded than any restaurant in nearby Sarlat!
