Les Grands Moulins de Baugé — Hotel in Saumur

Very unique place, we really liked the ambiance. Huge comfy room. Slept great. Clean and functional bathroom. Good location very close to the city center. One can hear the frogs in the pond, and the water flowing below the building. Big garden at the back.

The only downsides I could think are: a) Old wood stairs. Adds to the charm, but only accessible to people able to walk such stairs. b) The bathroom has no sound isolation. Best for families and friends comfortable with a shared space. c) Since it is an old building, unclear how cold it gets in winter (we visited in spring). There was a stove for heating.

We visited Bauge for an overnight stay and were not disappointed by our choice of accommodation. Our very large room was on the top floor of the old mill which dates back to the 10th century. Breakfast was included and served on the balcony level of the small theatre which is also housed within the building. We thought it was excellent value at 70 euro's. After breakfast the owner gave us a guided tour of the mill and showed us how they wish to extend the accommodation in future years, we found the history very...
