I stayed a night during my visit in August 2024, and I have a few points to mention, starting with the positives and moving on to the negatives and critical concerns.
Positive: The hotel is located outside the center of Strasbourg, but it’s easily reachable by train (a 5-minute walk) or by buses that come every 20 minutes. It’s quiet at night. There’s a French supermarket near the train station, offering a variety of snacks and beverages. The sound insulation is good—no noise from outside. The air conditioning works well.
Negative: The hotel is old, and the room is small. Some upgrades are urgently needed. The mattress had numerous dirty stains. The room lacks essential facilities such as a safe, sofa, and cupboard. The pool table on the ground floor isn’t free; it costs 2€ to use. The new staff member was untrained, and I had to wait over 20 minutes to check in. She texted instead of calling her colleague when she didn’t know what to do, causing delays. I was repeatedly asked if I had paid (which I had) and if I wanted breakfast (which I didn’t). While she was kind and friendly, I blame the hotel for not providing adequate training and support for new staff.
Critical: !!! Warning: I was asked to provide my credit card for a deposit, which is standard practice in many hotels, and I was assured no money would be withdrawn. However, during my stay, I received five notifications that the hotel was attempting to charge my credit card. Fortunately, my balance was less than 50€, so the transactions were rejected by the bank. When I checked out the next day, I was informed by another staff member that my stay hadn’t been paid for. I showed her my booking confirmation again and left my email for the third time in case they needed to contact me—though they never did. I find it completely unacceptable that the hotel tried to charge my account without my permission. This is a serious breach of trust, and I am considering taking legal action if necessary. I will be writing to the hotel to demand an explanation regarding...
Read moreOn July 3, 2025, due to a strike by aviation workers in France, my flight to Strasbourg was canceled, which I was informed about 3.5 hours before the flight. I had already paid for a reservation at a hotel, called them and informed them of this information, they suggested that I call the general hotline, which I did. There I was reconnected with the hotel again, where they asked me to send information about the canceled flight to my email, what I did immediately after call, in the hope that I would be able to rebook to another hotel in the chain (because I had purchased a different flight). About an hour later, I called because I wanted to find out if anything could be done with my existing paid reservation. The employee said that no, it was impossible. I understand that it is not the hotel's fault, but it is also not my fault for the canceled flight. And even in the worst case scenario (impossibility of changing to a reservation at another hotel in the chain or getting a refund), I expected clearer communication. Why did they ask me for a screenshot of the canceled flight? Why didn't they call me more than an hour after I sent the email after they know that it's impossible to do something? It seems to me that this may indicate either a lack of motivation to help me solve the problem, or a banal low level of professionalism. I felt especially upset because I am a member of their loyalty program, the reservation was made through it. It's disappointing, I'll leave 2 stars instead of 1, although for the appearance of a desire to help me. But, honestly, now I have no desire to book hotels from this chain...
Read moreThe breakfast was terrible, you only got a choice of croissant, baguette or chocolate roll. There was salami, ham and cheese (1 kind of each). There was no bacon and no decent eggs, you could only cook your own eggs in a kind of water boiler.||But unfortunately, this did not work either. There was 1 kind of cornflakes, milk and that was it. Not worth 10.50 euros.||Next, none of the staff spoke English. Fortunately, I could speak French fluently but my friends could not communicate with the staff.||The rooms were very outdated, unhygienic. There were dirty white spots on the curtains, the beds were dirty, there were dirty green spots on the sheets. In addition, the air conditioning did not work in 2 of the 3 rooms. While it was over 35 degrees during our stay.||You could not operate the water properly. It was either ice cold water or boiling hot water. The hot water also ran out very quickly, so that in the end you had to wash yourself with cold water. There were no plug sockets in the places that should normally have one, such as a bedside table.||Finally, during check out, they charged too much even though one room had checked out a day earlier. I asked if the bill was correct before I paid, and the receptionist said everything was fine. When I got the bill, it turned out that she had not checked it at all and that we had paid a lot more.||I then got back in cash everything that was overpaid.||I don't recommend this accommodation, also because it is situated in a sketchy area. All around the hotel there are smashed-up cars, broken tyres,... Untidy neighbourhood. I recommend to stay away from there...
