Corniche 22 — Hotel in Thonon-les-Bains

Living over the other side of the lake of Geneva, we were invited to a concert in Thonon, and decided to sleep there instead of driving 1 ½ hours back late at night. We chose the Corniche 22 because we had already met the owner in Switzerland, and we decided to try it out.||||We travelled to Thonon by boat, and when we booked the hotel, Véronique, the owner, said she would come and pick us up from the harbour, although the hotel is only ten minutes walk away. She was duly there to greet us on our arrival. The hotel is a lovely 1920's house which Véronique has recently restored to perfection. It has a wonderful view on the lake and the Jura mountains beyond, and is an easy stroll away into town. The rooms are delightful and most originally furnished. It's really much more like staying in somebody's home than in a hotel: there are books in every room, old furniture, and paintings from old masters to contemporary works adorn the walls. There are five rooms, all different and gorgeously decorated (Véronique showed us them all). I thought it would be noisy, as it's right on the road, but the double-glazed windows were very efficient. In any case, there's not much traffic, and the weather was so hot we left the windows open all night and slept perfectly well. The bathroom was spanking new, but in 1920's style. ||||Breakfast in the morning is served at one big table where all the guests sit. There was an excellent breadbasket with three or four types of fresh bread, home-made jams, salami and a nice cheese board. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate - all the usual breakfast drinks were available. ||||Véronique gave us a personalized service you wouldn't expect even from a top hotel. I don't believe this was because we had already met her outside the hotel context: a nice Dutch family was staying there too, and got as good a service as did we. This place is excellent value for money; it's like being in someone's private house, and we left trying to find some reason to return...

I discovered this B&B when all the others places were fuill on a friday evening . Located in a stylish , fully renovated mansion with a great view on the lake, this B&B has been opened recentled by a swiss lady who does her best to make you confortable like at home.||||Located in Thonon center , the B&B is very closed to Thermal baths ( if you plan some health cure) , 5 minutes from city center and about 10 minutes wall from railway Station ||||Prices are reasonnable considering the overall quality||||A...

Emplacement idéal : au balcon du Léman, à 12 minutes à pied du centre-ville et 10 minutes en voiture ou à vélo des grèves du lac pour se baigner.

Le petit-déjeuner dans le jardin, quand le temps le permet, est un délice ; vous pourrez aussi accéder à une cuisine en toute autonomie.
