I loved the 1920s Belle Epoch vibe and ambience. This is the closest hotel to the lakeside in Evian les Bains, we went for my birthday and it was stunning with look alike Titantic dining deck and a inside bar/dining room with stained glass. A private beach and deck. I loved it. However, I also need to be honest due to the age of the building (and it is truly amazing that it has survived since the 1840s) but this means that water pressure when showering is difficult, the rooms smell musty and have insects hiding in room corners (mosquitos etc), the food was overpriced and mediocre at best. I would suggest to the owner to have smaller portion sizes with options between French food and lighter food to catch diverse audiences. There is a spa as well but it only opens at 10:00/10:30 and if you are a traveller this is a bit late. I would suggest earlier opening times to catch travellers having to leave as we had to. So in short would I do this again? DEFINITELY for the experience, I would pack my bug zapper, pack antihistamine and dry shampoo, I would have breakfast and eat out for dinner if a lighter variation of food is not possible. BUT it is PRICELESS to get the chance to pretend to be in Titanic 1920`s old world luxury and charm.

A friendly and comfortable hotel with very unique decor. Each room appears to be decorated differently from another. Decor won't appeal to everyone but we found it to be a great experience to have a room with character. Staff are very friendly and helpful, and you'll most likely be greeted by their lovely chocolate Labrador dog who is also super friendly and a calm dog. Free parking is available in two carparks on the opposite side of the road from the main hotel. There is a new pool that guests have access to and views of the lake from the gardens is quite nice. Care is taken to ensure that the rooms are cleaned and made to a high standard. The rooms don't have air conditioning but if you open the balcony door you get enough fresh air coming in to cool the room down. The only issue we had was that because the building is quite old the soundproofing between each room is very minimal so we could hear the person in the next room cough, sneeze and snore quite loudly. I think we must have just been slightly unlucky with our loud neighbour but in general most sounds between rooms aren't heard.

Didn't stay at the hotel, just went to the restaurant to eat. Food was great, the atmosphere was cozy and the view of the lake was amazing. The bathroom had perfumes that you could use if you wanted to smell extra nice. Only downside was one of the waiters was very insisting that we choose a specific dessert instead of the simple ice-cteam we were actually choosing. Rest of the waiters were great though and the ice-cream was tastyy.

The hotel overall is a really great little place to stay. I'll start from the beginning. I arrived at about 1pm, too early to check-in, which was fair. Parking is very weird - it's up a little road on a hill, open to the public too. Only problem is there's nowhere to stop and unload your luggage. So you have to first park, then walk down to hotel, fetch a little trolley-thingy, then walk back up hill, load suitcases and walk back down again to reception. It was boiling hot and I'm not the youngest and I've just had a hip replacement so it was a bit stressful for me. However, luckily enough I managed to get a space in a very small hotel-owned car park opposite the hotel so it wasn't too bad for me in the end but my sister and her husband had to do the palaver above. The rooms are very small but as I was alone, my double room didn't seem too small for me but for my sister and husband, their room seemed very small for them. Rooms are pretty but seriously over-cluttered with extremely strange colour coordination - striped wallpaper, polka dotted cushions, flowered bedspreads, in all colour schemes, and seriously over-cluttered with unnecessary deco-articles - things hanging from every knob or handle. However my room with a view of the lake Geneva made up for all the weird decoration and size. For a small 3-star hotel they really had thought of everything. Pool bag with slippers, pool towel, bathrobe, adapters for electrical gadgets, fans, tea and coffee-making facilities, Evian bottled drink, etc. - it was really well-equipped. Breakfast was fantastic with literally everything you could want from mega-healthy options with nuts and fruit, etc. (for my sister!) and very unhealthy, full-on English breakfast options for myself. Beautifully arranged and very friendly staff. A real treat to sit there overlooking the lake. We had dinner in the outside dining room twice. It really is a beautiful dining area and the indoor area in the colder days was also amazing. Dining was very expensive with only 5 very expensive fish dishes and 5 very expensive meat/poultry dishes but the ambience, the very professional waiting staff (who trundled around all night taking care of any table who they saw needed assistance), the location and the enjoyment of the feeling of experiencing 'fine lakeside, gourmet dining' made up for the ludicrous prices - starter 15 - 18 Euros, main courses 35 to 39 Euros, dessert or cheese 13 - 15 Euros. Staff were really fabulous throughout our short stay of 3 nights, 4 days. Swimming pool is small but lovely. Deckchairs all around. The 2 days we were there we had the pool to ourselves until about 4pm because there was golf tournament going on in Evian. Lakeside swimming is also available from their private jetty - one of the highlights for me. Really big praise again to the waiting staff and to the lovely ladies on reception - in fact to all, the cleaning staff were also very friendly. So overall I would say not a cheap hotel but definitely for all the plus points a really truly memorable...

I booked the rooms for my mother and her friends. However, today, I got an email from Booking.com to update the credit card for the hotel as it was expired. I promptly update the credit card in the system of Booking.com and got an email confirmed that this has been updated. However, few minutes later I got another email from Booking.com to update the credit card again, and got an email confirmed that the card has been updated yet again. Few minutes later I got an email from Booking.com that the reservation has been canceled by the hotel as the credit card is invalid. I am pretty sure that I key in the correct credit card number which expire date is more than available so I called to the hotel to recheck. Male staff answered and confirm that the card that I updated is expired which is not correct information as I updated it twice. So they canceled my booking. Yes, I got angry and yelled at the staff then he just hang up the phone rudely.

Then I called to the Booking.com call center , and explain what happened, the staff from Booking.com checked for me and inform that even though I’m trying to rebook it, the room type the number of rooms that I need is not available anymore. From my experience as I used to work in hotel before I understand that this may cause from overbooking at the hotel and.?

My mother is in Europe right now and now I have to find new hotel for her for this stupid reason. Very bad bad service and...
