Waldcafé Baden-Baden Restaurant & Hotel — Hotel in Baden-Baden

This little guesthouse B & B is part of the restaurant of the same name which has been in the same family since 1938. The hotel portion is fairly new however and very modern. the building is set in the forest-that's the Black Forest-and is serene and as quiet as can be. It is also set at the top of a little hill although the view is confined to the forest. Unlike many German guesthouses, this one has a very modern lift so no lugging suitcases up to the top floor. The rooms are large (!) and the beds very comfy. The hot water is hot and the rooms are extremely clean. The excellent morning breakfast is included and prepared by the owner/chef himself. We spent 4 nights here and would have stayed more if my schedule had allowed. The owner is very friendly and his staff is efficient. And the ample parking is free as is the WiFi. Little hiking trails surround the property and some lead to secluded open meadows in the forest while others lead to tiled foot spas fed by icy cold mountain water. Just the ting for tired hiker's feet. A short walk down the hill gets you to 2 bus lines to take you into Baden Baden (avoid the difficult and non-existent parking). We pre booked this visit after reading previous reviews and there’s no wonder this place has outstanding reviews. From the minute we pulled up the place just had the wow factor. We were greeted by an amazing lady called Adelina who from the very start made us feel so welcome. She made check in very easy and showed us to our room which again was outstanding and so nice and clean. We were in room 5 which had a balcony and had the sun on the terrace all day!! We reserved a table for dinner and again we were greeted by Adelina. She helped us right from the off and helped us choose the most amazing local dishes that she recommended and WOW they were some of the best dishes we’d ever had. I also trusted her to make me a cocktail and again it was just the best. She absolutely made our night and is a massive credit to the Waldcafe!! We could not recommend this place enough for a place to come and relax and to go on some lovely walks. All staff were very friendly who we saw and we would love to return. The only downside we had was that we were only there for one night!...

The Waldcafe is a superb place to stay with spacious comfortable rooms, some with a balcony. It is a few minutes drive from the centre of Baden-Baden but seemingly miles away because it is sited in a huge, peaceful, forest with waymarked walks.||||A fabulous hotel BUT we were arriving on a Monday when it is shut. Arrangements were made for the room key to be left in a wall safe by the entrance and we were given the code. Well - there was no key there! I noticed that this had happened to another reviewer so it was not a one-off failure. Luckily for us a caretaker appeared and after about 40 minutes and some phone calls he finally got us inside. There was no phone number available to me for the owners, so without this guy's help we would have had to stay in a hotel. OK these things happen but NO apology and NO explanation from the owners. Trust me when you have got up at 04.00 in the morning and travelled a very long way you do not need this kind of hassle.||Das Waldcafe ist ein hervorragender Ort zum Verweilen mit geräumigen, komfortablen Zimmern, teilweise mit Balkon. Es ist nur wenige Autominuten vom Zentrum von Baden-Baden entfernt, aber scheinbar meilenweit entfernt, da es in einem riesigen, friedlichen Wald mit markierten Wanderwegen liegt.||||Ein fabelhaftes Hotel, ABER wir kamen an einem Montag an, als es geschlossen war. Es wurden Vorkehrungen getroffen, dass der Zimmerschlüssel in einem Wandsafe am Eingang hinterlegt werden sollte, und wir erhielten den Code. Naja - da war kein Schlüssel dabei! Mir ist aufgefallen, dass dies einem anderen Rezensenten passiert ist, also war es kein einmaliger Fehler. Zu unserem Glück erschien ein Hausmeister und nach etwa 40 Minuten und einigen Telefonaten brachte er uns endlich hinein. Mir war keine Telefonnummer der Eigentümer bekannt, also hätten wir ohne die Hilfe dieses Typen in einem Hotel übernachten müssen.
