TL:DR This is a well meaning 3-star hotel. It would get 4 if the rooms were updated, the staff were better trained (I'd rate them 5 star on the majority of them and their willingness to help though), and some of their amenities were better overall. I am American, traveling on business, who stayed at this hotel for 3 weeks. My german is not good, and as such should be considered when reading this review.
Location: This is not something the hotel can really control but does play a factor. This hotel is located between 3 easy to access mass transit stations which is wonderful. It provides ample access to downtown, as well as most of the industrial areas nearby. Not to mention there's almost always a cab nearby or a quick call away. Parking is available on site, and is shared with a local Bio-Markt (organic regional grocery store) at the rear.
Accommodations: The room itself was probably the worst part of the stay. It's quite functional: Desk, Television, Bathroom, mirrors, and closet, so I felt I had everything I needed, but it wasn't very comfortable for 3 weeks worth of stay. I'm had to get used to "bed-decke" or two twin comforters used on the bed. I'll discuss this further when I talk about their service, beyond that though I've stayed at better places for less, so it may be worth it to NH to review and update their rooms.
Service: I found that there was an inconsistent level of training for all the staff at this hotel. While most everyone was extremely eager to help, it felt as though not everyone knew what to do. As example, I did ask for bed sheets I would be more used to but the person at the front desk expressed there was no other variety. This may have been a language barrier, albeit a low one given how many people speak english in Dresden, but I took him at his word and continued. Similarly a when I attempted to order room service for a pot of coffee (there are no coffee pots in the room) one time I had it delivered, the other time I was asked to come "pick up your cup at the bar". I can only assume that this hotel is not used to getting english only speaking guests, but better training and process can be put in place for those who are there for more consistency.
Wifi / Pricing This hotel includes very little as part of the cost of your room, keep this in mind when choosing to stay here. The pot of coffee I ordered before was 17eu, 12 for the coffee and 5 for the room service fee. Upgrading from the free access 1mb to 15mb Wifi was 10eu a day. The breakfast buffet was quite expensive as well. This is not to say that what was purchased was not absolutely delicious, but where you may save in the room, you will pay in the amenities. I do not hold this against them as these are all optional things that honestly you don't really need, but just as with their staff being better trained, many of these prices and options should be outlined and documented.
Final Words: This place is fine for short trips, overnight to at most 4 or 5 days. I cannot stress enough that the staff were wonderful and extremely helpful. Quite honestly the best part of staying at this hotel. For the extent I stayed, I certainly felt that there's a lot of areas where the hotel could improve, and since I tend to stay in dresden for weeks at a time, it will be quite unlikely that I will stay here again...
Read moreOverall, my experience at this hotel was mixed. The room itself was spacious and the bathroom was clean, which was definitely a plus. Additionally, the breakfast provided was enjoyable and met my expectations.
However, I was disappointed with the hotel's other services, especially considering it is classified as a 4-star establishment. I had specifically requested a quiet room when making my reservation, but unfortunately, I was given a room located next to a busy road. The constant noise from the traffic made it difficult to get a good night's sleep. I even asked the reception for ear plugs, but they were unable to provide any as their supplies were not replenished. If you plan on staying at this hotel and are unlucky enough to be assigned a room facing the road, I recommend bringing your own ear plugs.
Another aspect that fell short was the minibar. Instead of being stocked with a variety of drinks, it was simply an empty fridge. If you want any beverages, you have to order them through their app, which can be quite expensive. For example, a 0.25 L bottle of water costs around 3 to 4 euros. It's worth noting that there is no vending machine available in the hotel, so you are limited to ordering through the app.
Additionally, I wanted to use the sauna during my stay, but there was a charge of 5 euros per person per use. Due to the current COVID-19 situation, access to the sauna was limited, so it's important to reserve and obtain a card as soon as possible if you wish to use it.
In conclusion, while the room size, cleanliness, and breakfast were satisfactory, the hotel's failure to provide a quiet room, lack of stocked minibar, and additional charges for sauna usage were disappointing. I hope this review helps others make an informed decision when choosing...
Read moreIt was close to where I needed, but that's all the positives.|Be careful: The room card is deactivated in a second if you keep it close to the phone...||Unlike room 242 on the second floor, I stayed in the week before, 530 on the fifth is very noisy - closer to the lift, making it busier around the door. The box for the fridge doesn't have an external door, so I had to switch it off to make the room quieter, but the worst of all is the noise from the gym on the sixth floor, namely the treadmill. If someone is running on it, it is impossible to focus on anything like watching TV or working on a PC...sleeping is impossible. The gym is open from 10 to 22, making it impossible to use in the morning, and it isn't quiet for the people on the floor below.|What also made me crazy is the fact that a lift always stops in the main lobby. It is useless and a waste of time when you travel up and down from the garage to the room.|Also, I don't get the point at all why access to the sauna is for an extra fee. I don't know how much extra money it brings, but I think it should surely be free for hotel guests, accessible with the room key. Especially when the room rate is over EUR100,-. I will try to avoid this hotel in the future, unless it costs half of the current rates. There are many better...
