My family and I booked a room here for all of us to stay, including our two cats - as we are moving out of Dusseldorf and needed to leave our apartment today. We booked the room at the Moxy more than two weeks ago but first called to make sure they allow cats to stay there. The representative told us it would be no problem to accommodate us all, that we would have to pay a fee for the cats and recommended the larger room. I went online and booked it and even checked the option that asked if we have pets and specifically stated in the notes that we have two cats staying with us. Today, on the day of check-in - I received an email from Christian (Front Office Team Member) saying that the room would be available for my wife, baby and me but not for the cats. I immediately called and spoke to him and he confirmed that dogs are allowed but not cats, and I explained to him that we called and confirmed this more than two weeks ago before booking and his colleague indicated that we could bring cats and that's the only reason we booked a room here. He said he would look into it and call me back. He called back about 15 minutes later and said there is nothing he could do to change that cats are not allowed. He offered only a free cancellation and the advice to drop the cats somewhere else so we could stay there without them. Free cancellation should not even have to be stated as this was 100% their fault and of course they should allow us out of the reservation for free, and his advice was not helpful or sensitive to our situation.
We were forced to find another room at a different hotel urgently at the last second for significantly higher than we intended and budgeted for, and our whole day was disrupted and thrown off schedule on top of all the stress we already had with packing up our belongings to move out of our home. I would highly recommend against staying here or doing business with this establishment, as they do not honor their commitments and are fine leaving their customers stranded without any help or viable alternate solutions. There should be a penalty for this type of business practice, and the hotel management should thoroughly review the reservations when they confirm them rather than on the day of check-in. That way they would be able to tell their customers in advance that they won't be able to service them, and avoid putting them in an extremely uncomfortable position as they did...
Read moreThe hotel is located in the southern part of the city, so a bit far away from the center.|It is modern and always feels fresh with their distinctive Moxy smell once you set foot in it.|With Corona, social distancing and obligatory face masks were always respected. All directions were one-way, so to exit the hotel, you had to take the emergency backdoor fire exit.||The room was comfortable but of course a bit small. Just like the Moxy-style ones, they lacked closet, safe and fridge, but for a short weekend stay it didnât create any problems for us. Had baby food with us, and the receptionist was very helpful to put it in the hotelâs fridge for us.||Buffet breakfast was no longer served due to COVID-19, so we had to fill-in a card choosing the items we wanted and the time to be served so they could make it ready for us the next day. The card should be given to the reception before midnight to make sure it gets ready for you in the morning. The breakfast is basic, but diverse enough to cater to all tastes.||Car parking at the hotel costs 10 euros per day, and the city parking on the street outside the hotel gives you 2-hours limit only Monday to Saturday, otherwise you need to park it far away in back streets.||Check-in and check-our were fast and friendly.||Overall, very nice experience and I recommend it for short stays if you plan to discover the city as the tram stop is a short distance walk from the hotel. Also there are supermarkets and...
Read moreroom was ok size for our needs but didnt see housekeeping once in our 3 days there, you wouldnt think you would need to ask for clean towels or bedding, the complimentary drink on arrival is probably better for used for cleaning drains, i actually saw them mixing up a batch for future arrivals and i suggest saying no thanks. Didnt eat there so no idea on the quality of the food but right outside is a good bakery for breakfast, a 5 guys if you are after something quick and easy, would definitely recommend the Italian place and my friends would say the same about the chinese place , mexican and turkish eateries 5 minutes down the road as well so no problem getting food to cater to most tastes nearby. Thats the good part of the location, my group didnt mind a good walk so the hour or so into the city center didnt bother us but you will defo need a tram or uber otherwise. Sorry to say the worst part was the staff, not friendly or welcoming at all, not rude or unhelpful either but you were always left with the distinct impression you were just an inconvenience on their day, only one guy working at night (during the euros) and you had to stop just short of waving your arms and shouting to get him to realise you wanted service. On the whole i would say you can probably find better for the same price....
