Stayed with a 5 month old infant in an urban cozy room. I hesitate to write this review as it feels like sharing a well kept secret, but I do sincerely hope that the hotel management will keep the family part of the hotel in as pristine a condition as we saw it, so here a review to inspire others with tiny co-travelers.||The room was clean and cozy. The urban room has an outdoor balcony.||The family spa area is clean and cozy. There is a childrenâs pool and two play areas. One is room temperature and one larger is markedly warmer (same room as the pool). We stayed from Monday-Thursday and were lucky enough to have the pool all to ourselves which was absolutely marvelous for a small infantâs first swim. However, the area might feel crowded with more than three families present at a time as there are not that many deck chairs and the noise level might increase fast. ||A huge thank you to the entire staff which were incredibly accommodating. Not once did we feel unwelcome, even though we brought an infant to both breakfast, lunch and dinner and took our child pram to and from the room on several occasions. ||The staff also showed great consideration when seating us at every meal in a booth or similar area with couch seating where our baby could lie on her own blanket next to an adult. ||A huge thank you to the waiter at the Minato who gave a stellar service experience and made it possible for both mom and dad to enjoy the entire omakase menu. We asked when ordering whether it might be an option to have one or more courses sent to the room in case the baby had a melt-down and this was indeed an option. As a mom to an infant, the experience of a fine dining meal without the stress of not knowing when the meal might come to an unplanned early end is truly relished. The fact that the food was incredible only added to the experience. ||Great breakfast options - however not that many vegetables (only beetroots, cucumbers, tomatoes and a caprese salad).||In the minor concerns department:|â We contacted the hotel weeks prior to our stay to book a taxi pick up from the station stressing that we would need a taxi with an infant car seat appropriate for a 5 month baby. However, the cab which picked us up did not have an infant seat and no other cab evidently had one. ||- In the room it would be nice with an option to borrow a changing pad. We made do with towels and a thin travel pad brought from home.||- We had the hot chocolate in the bar which was unfortunately very thin and tasted like it was a variant made with powder. All other drinks we had including coffee, tea and mocktails were delicious.||- There is no real entertainment within walking distance in the winter season. But the cab fee for downtown Flensburg is very affordable. However be aware that it is not possible to rent a taxi with an infant seat. There is also a bus stop within walking distance (uphill, about 10 minutes without child pram, more with as will need to either negotiate stairs or take a longer route).||- the surface of the changing pads in the family spa area are textile with no sanitary covering available. We used our own travel mat on top, but in the long run the pads will most likely become not so sanitary as little people tend to have accidents. A request would be either changing to changing pads with an easy to clean surface and sanitary wipes next to the changing table or a roller with disposable single use water proof covering...
Read moreGot charged 120 euros to charge the car. Aircon in the room didn't work. We had to get up to serve our own wine as the restaurant staff was more interested in preparing for next day's breakfast. Ridiculous gym design - gym was at full capacity sunday morning 8 am. And we paid 620 euros (+ the 120 for charging!!) for the experience. ||We were on a roadtrip coming from the south of Europe and needed a rest somewhere in northern Germany. After some googling we decided to treat ourselves to a stay at Das James - much because they offered overnight charging in a private garage. Next day we woke up to a charge of 118 euros as they charge per minute after you are done charging. Nobody puts on an alarm to move their car at 2 AM in the morning when using an overnight charger at a hotel. This is an absolute scam. The hotel takes no responsibility and say the charge point is operated by a third-party - even if it's installed in their private garage. Horrible customer service and just shows an arrogance beyond belief.||The night before we had dinner in the hotel restaurant. The food was good but the experience was totally ruined by staff who didn't pay attention at all. Our wine bottle was taken care of by the staff for them to refill our glasses when needed - only problem is they never paid attention. Several times we had to wave them down to have our glass refilled and last time we had to get up and ask them to leave the bottle on our table.||When we got to bed the aircon didn't work. We were already so tired that we didn't bother to complain. Nobody wants to call for service personnel 11 pm when you are already ready for bed.||Next morning we went to the gym only to realise that it was completely packed â by 5 people! The design of this gym is beyond ridiculous and a large boxing ring takes up half the space. Needless to say none of the 5 people in there used the boxing ring because who goes to a spa hotel to work on...
