While the hotel was not our first choice for our recent stay in Hamburg, we are glad we ended up here. We stayed in a 50m² suite, which turned out to be perfect for us, as we spent a lot of time in the room during the afternoons and evenings while preparing for our boat license course in Finkenwerder.
The rooms show signs of age — the carpet and sofa are a bit worn, and while air conditioning units are visible, they are not functional. Still, the atmosphere was peaceful, and the space felt just right for what we needed.
What truly made our stay memorable was the outstanding service and the wonderful team running the place — especially Tino and Eva from the bar and restaurant. They embodied genuine hospitality. They were flexible and accommodating with my dietary restrictions, incredibly kind and welcoming to our dog, and always happy to share a smile or a chat.
Every request — whether for a fan, iron, slippers, or anything else — was handled quickly and kindly, usually within minutes.
Another highlight: the food. The quality surprised us in the best way. We ended up eating at the hotel almost every day without getting tired of the options — a big compliment to the kitchen team.
Yes, the hotel shows its age in parts, but the warmth of the service and the high standard of the restaurant easily make up for it. A stay...
Read moreRoom of normal 4star standard. But the view from the suite was superb! BUT, the service at tha hotell does not reach 4 star standard! We booked a suite for 3 people, our friend stayed in the bedsofa. But, he didnt get any towels, no glas o cup. Since there was no informationbroschyr in the room telling you how to call the reception I had to run down to the reception in the morning go get towels. The lack on informationbroschyr in a 4 star hotel is just so bad. Nothing about breakfast, taxis, the surroundings a.s.o. First time I stayed in a hotel with 4 stars nothaving this. The cleaning of the room the 2 first nights was also bad. Didnt replace or clean out 2 glasses or mugs for example. After I had told the reception it become ok the third night. The balcony in our suite was nice and with a wonderful view, IF you are able to climb the HUGE step, my wife couldn´t ! Nothing for people with bad hips or older people for sure. The staff in the bar, behaved like mr Fawlty in Fawlty Towers. Maybe even more rude! :-( He can be one resan why we refuse to return ! We liked the island and the ferrytour, and the shuttle wokred very well...
Read moreI have been a client at RILANO for many years. During my last visit I was disappointed that my room was a 'bath' room rather than a 'shower' room as I believe that this preference is in your database. However, I was pleased with the room cleanliness as usual which indicates a high standard of work by your staff. As regards the restaurant, I was disappointed that there are no longer newspapers available at the entrance. As a business traveller, I am regularly alone in the dining room and particularly enjoy reading the news paper at breakfast. Your reception staff explained to me that the 'tablet computer' in the bedroom was intended to provide eNewspaper as part of a new strategy of the hotel. nevertheless I will miss the real newspaper! I was also disappointed that your sauna is undergoing reworks and was therefore not available. I particularly enjoy the sauna in the evenings to relax and I think you have done a great job on the renovations last year. The concept of a paying extra is fully acceptable in view of the quality environment you have turned the sauna into. I therefore look forward to my next sauna in your...
