Hotel Lindenhof — Hotel in Königstein/Sächs. Schw.

Leaving the train from Dresden at the Königstein railway station, go up the hill and then turn left to cover appr. 400 meters to the Lindenhof hotel along a very busy road. ||||The check-in was quick. We were quite lucky to move in earlier than formidably scheduled check-in time of 15.00! ||The carpets make it all quiet in the corridors. There is no human lift. Only a small luggage lift. ||||The hotel interior is nice, and you get quite quickly accustomed to the scent of the aged furniture. ||||The room is comparatively large with lots of 220 v wall sockets, TV and... spiders. Huge spiders sit in their cobwebs on the windows-sills outside, but eventually crawl into the room - we had to remove 6 spiders before going to bed, knowing full well, that other occupants were out of reach too high on the ceiling. ||The hotel faces the Elbe River only at an angle, as the river is hidden by the road and the trees. Still you can see a high hill right across the river. The windows comfortably protect the noise from a very busy road to neighbouring villages.||||The pillows are large, soft and flat. Even the sofa small pillows as supporters could not help to have a sound sleep - very inconvenient! ||The breakfast room is excellent, with a tasty decoration and a good choice. The food is tasty but the assortment is rather limited to make you go stale within a few days. ||||The dinner is served outside on the terrace. The sight is OK. So is the food quality, yet the prices are a bit too high to reach the top of satisfaction. 70-80 euro for a dinner for 3 person with some wine.||Due to the day heat, we did not risk to climb the Königstein fortress. ||We were unlucky with the Bastei Bridge either, due to the local forest fires and blocking the roads to the local wonder. ||||The staff is friendly, the stay is OK.||Wishing you...

Toll ist die Lage des Hotels. Leicht erhöht, hat man von der Terrasse einen schönen Blick über das Elbtal mit der Elbe, auf den Lilienstein und auf die Festung Königstein. Ein Ort zum Genießen, wo man bei einem guten Getränk oder einem wohlschmeckenden Gericht gerne die ein oder andere Stunde verbringen mag. Das Personal war sehr höflich und aufmerksam. Jedoch, mit dem was mir an diesem Abend serviert wurde, ich hatte Rindersteak mit gebratenen Zwiebeln und Bratkartoffeln bestellt, war ich persönlich nicht wirklich einverstanden. Da erwarte ich schon etwas mehr von einem 3-Sterne-Hotel. Vielleicht hatte ich nur "Pech", weil wir knapp 45 min vor Küchenschluss unsere Bestellung aufgegeben haben und die/ der Köchin/ Koch schon im Feierabendmodus war. Der Umstand, dass der Küchenschluss nahte oder welche Gründe auch immer zu dem dargebotenen Gericht führten, es rechtfertigt nicht das servierte Ergebnis. Die Bratkartoffeln (Convenience Food) wurden meiner Meinung nach mit etwas Zwiebel aufgewertet, die so kurz mitgebraten wurden, dass diese quasi noch "roh" waren. Das galt auch für die "gebratenen" Zwiebeln zum Rindersteak. Etwas mehr Zeit beim braten, so dass die Zwiebeln gut karamelisiert gewesen wären, hätten dem guten Rindersteak echt den Kick gegeben, den ich mir erwünscht habe und bei "gebratenen Zwiebeln" erwartet hatte. Ich hatte vor der Bestellung beim Kellner nachgefragt, ob die Zwiebeln braun gebraten oder "nur" fritiert werden. Die Antwort lautete "gebraten". Die Salatgarnitur wäre mit etwas Vinaigrette fast wie ein kleiner Salat gewesen. So fand ich Garnitur nur fade, ideenlos und einem 3-Sterne-Hotel, aus meiner Sicht, nicht würdig. Für rund 20,- € hab ich mir etwas mehr Pfiff erhofft. Die Soljanka, die ich als Vorspeise bestellt hatte war schmackhaft. Da ich in den Rezensionen so viel Positives im Vorfeld gelesen hatte, so dass die Wahl für ein Abendessen an diesem Abend auf das Hotel Lindenhof viel, hoffe ich, dass es einfach ein unglücklicher Zufall war. Hotel is small and nice. Room´s good, spacious with nice bathroom. Unfortunately our room missed the balcony. Spacious parking place directly by the hotel. Good but forgettable breakfast, poor service in the restaurant (we almost had to go for order to the kitchen). Note: unlike guide books information the hotel is NOT directly on the Elberadweg but you have take your bike more then half a kilometer accross and by the busy street (really not safe for children). If you travel with children, forget double room with extra beds, your children would hate you, extra beds are really...
