My aunt lives in Murnau and as a family we travel from the UK and South Africa respectively to visit her for a week every year. We have been lucky enough to stay at the Gastehaus Angerer for the last few years, and hopefully will continue to do so for a long time coming.||||Frau Angerer could not be more welcoming, friendly and attentive. Nothing is too much trouble and with my smattering of German, I can just about make myself understood if we'd like extra pillows etc etc.||||The Gastehaus is based in a residential area and unless you have bicycles or enjoy walking, I'd say you would need to have a car to get around, but that's not a problem as there is ample room for parking and it always means it's beautifully quiet and peaceful too!!||||The breakfast is superb and the normal continental fare - cheeses, hams, jams, pates, boiled eggs, cereal, fruit, yogurt and fruit juices. We thoroughly enjoy the breakfast and have never tired of the choices on offer.||||We stay in the main buildling in one of the standard rooms and I love waking up to the cow bells and views to the mountains.||||If you are looking for a clean, friendly and personable B&B - I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending a stay here. I'm already looking forward to our next...
Read moreMy wife and I were visiting German friends who had a small 'summer appartment' in Murnau and recommended this Gastehaus. We were made so welcome by Frau Angerer from the moment we arrived. Our room was a spacious apartment itself with large bedroom, kitchen/dining area bathroom and spacious hall. It was simply but very well equipped. Breakfasts were excellent with a generous choice of cold meats, cheeses, breads, yoghurts, fresh fruit etc, and lashings of coffee.||Murnau am Staffelsee is an attractive town, beautifully situated in the Blue Land, a low lying area beneath the Bavarian Alps with mile upon mile of meadows, woods, and lakes, ideal for walking, swimming, saling, camping. Oberammergau is a short distance away, as are Garmisch - Partenkirken, Innsbruck and Munich. There is a good train service linking Murnau to Munich (airport) in the North and Innsbruck in the South,(also with a good airport).||||There are many Inns and Beer Gardens in this area, we found food reasonably priced as were the famous Bavarian Beers. We shall return to Murnau soon and will certainly stay at the Gastehaus...
Read moreThe hotel is located from the city center of Murnau 10 minutes by feet. It provides many parking lots for free. The view from the huge balcony to alpes mountains is spectacular. The room itself provides a convenient king size bed, a water heater for tea/coffee, a big tv flat sreen, a small desk and a small bath with shower but no bathtub. |The breakfast buffet is really great, you may order fresh egg dishes any style as well. I guess that everything is delivered by local farmers.|The owners- a couple - takes care of you very well, is extremely supportive and friendly. You can ask them everything, in which lakes you should swim at which places, where to hike, to bike, they are locals and like to share their expertise with you.|The only drawbacks: 1) The room mate forgot to replace shampoo and body soap, so I couldn‘t take a shower in the morning. 2) It would be a great idea to provide some mineral water in the rooms. |Nevertheless I guess I was just unlucky because everything else exceeded my expectations. If you stay in Murnau, you should book this hotel, it‘s...
