I was in Germany for a 2 week business trip, I chose Rotenburg due to the quite and relaxed area and it’s easy access to the mountain and woodlands which I was fortunate to experience over the weekend. ||The Location||Local shops nearby to pick up essentials it was only a 6 minute walk to the EDENA shop within the Rotenburg centre across the rail tracks. |Things to do include treatments such as massage at the Gobels hotel Rotenburg which is only 28 mins walk up the hill from this hotel I indulged in a massage with hot stones and the expletive was amazing. |Then I also took a 3.5 hour hike from the hotel into the mountain, I used ALL TRAILS to find the start of the route it’s very close to the bus park at the Gobels hotel from here you can walk into the woods and up to the breathtaking views at the Alheimer Turm, which is a tower you can walk up to the top and get amazing views of the landscape. ||The Hotel||The PostHotel Rotenburg is a gem set within the beautiful landscape of Rotenburg next to the Fulda river. |It’s a 4 star hotel and had some useful facilities. This includes a restaurant, Steam room and Sauna, Gym and two main types of rooms standard and comfort.||The Room ||I was fortunate to pick a comfort room which is facing the river walk side vs the railway, this helped to reduce the noise from the trains which I did hear but it was not disturbing me at all. |Some people have complained that rooms facing the railway can be noisy so if this is a concern for you book a comfort room. |They are very spacious and very clean I am a very picky clean person so even I would struggle to find fault here based on other hotels I have stayed across the world.|In terms of the Decor yes it’s not what you might be used to in the ultra modern hotels it may seem dated to some but it’s actually common in Germany this look and is just another part of the experience to enjoy if you like ultra modern then maybe not stay here but if you just want clean and comfortable and not so obsessed with the decor then this is a fantastic place. |My room had a decent sized bathroom with a corner shower cubicle and it was technically a double bed although it was 2 separately mattresses put together on a single frame this wasn’t an issue for me as how much of the bed can you really use. |The down side was the pillow situation when I arrived the pillow was only 1 and was very uncomfortable it did not have much filling, I located a 2nd pillow in the Wardrobe but this too was sad, however I contacted reception and asked for a better pillow if they had this, when I returned to my room that evening I had 2 very plump pillows to enjoy which made a big difference. |The bed did make a noise when you got on and off so careful with that for the couples.|My room had a balcony for the smokers I think so I didn’t use this, but it was very useful to get fresh air into the room on mild nights as not air con, I used the Fan that was in my room to help so it was fine, maybe difficult in summer so be careful. |For those not used to European doors we don’t have this much in the uk it’s a door but also a window so don’t assume like I did you broke it if your turn the handle all the way up and pull the window part come open but not the entire door for security but if you turn the handle only to 45 degrees the entire door opens. ||You get a Nespresso machine in the room also, the coffee pods can be refilled for free if you ask at reception, the cleaner will not replenish these for you. ||In terms of cleaning I had no issues to be mindful the room is not cleaned each day be default to avoid environment issues so if you want a refresh just ask the day before at reception. ||The Restaurant ||I used the restaurant several times and had the Al A Kart menu, the food each time was excellent some of the best I have had, the attention and care they put into this is clear. |The menu was in German of course but this was not an issue as you can use google translate image or like I did learn the words best you can it makes it more enjoyable alternative to this is search on the internet for PostHotel Rotenburg menu and you will get to see the full menu then you can use your phone to translate the page it’s not difficult. |I can’t speak to the breakfast or the buffet as I never had time to enjoy this but I have heard lots of good things about this and based on the quality of the food I had I won’t disagre. ||The Service / Staff||I have no complaints with any of the service I received here, everyone was very friendly and welcoming and they really will do what they can to help you. My tip is to make as much effort as you can to speak German as this makes things more enjoyable and easy for them to understand most of them do speak some English but be realistic it’s not there first language so you have to be clear and try and support by using translating apps, I had no issues I practiced a few useful phrases in German such as please can I have my room cleaned and more coffee pods please. ||I am very great fun to all the staff at this hotel including the restaurant, reception and cleaning staff all did a great job and I...
Read moreWith our in-laws, my husband and I stayed at Posthotel Rotenburg a.d. Fulda from the 15th to the 18th August. We were on a tour by coach with Violetta Cars ( Belgium) - a well organised group with a careful driver and a good guide, both of whom also very polite and willing to help. The Hotel boasts of large, comfortable , spotlessly clean rooms with a balcony. Breakfast and dinner were so plentiful and varied that each person could easily find his or her tastes. As usual we were asked to help the environment by asking whether the room needed cleaning or not every single day. The second day we opted for the 'no need to clean' and in the evening we found,,, hanging on the door knob, 2 small boxes of Pralines! The personnel are more than willing to help when necessary and they made our stay a real pleasant one. We would certainly recommend...
