Hotel Kölbl — Hotel in Unterhaching

My family stopped here on our last 2 nights of an 8 day road trip. These rooms are fantastic!! The hotel is easy to get to, with free parking in the back. The front desk is not staffed full time so if you check in later in the evening, they will send you a code via email to retrieve your room keys and let yourself in. A very smooth and simple process! They also have drinks and snacks available for purchase on the honor system when they are not there. Everything was reasonably priced. Breakfast is offered for a fee, but there is a bakery and grocery store within walking distance so we chose to get our good outside of the hotel. The rooms and decor looked like they had been recently updated. Everything was clean and bright and comfortable. The staff was pleasant and friendly and spoke English well. Hotel is situated in outskirts of München. However it’s great to explore the city, because of close distance to S-Bahn station (1km), from which train goes to the city center. There is possibility to buy family ticket for up to 5 people including unlimited ride with S-Bahn and transportation in München. In nearby there are also many restaurants. Disadvantage was a reception closing at 15:00. Nevertheless if you will come later, there is box in front of hotel with a key to room. You must call a receptionist to give you a code to the box. Our room was very spacious, with a big tv and a fridge. Beds were comfortable. We had a breakfast included- just good, nothing special. Decorations in dining room were nice. This small hotel close to the train (S-Bahn) to Munich is a special gem, Their love to detail is just outstanding. We had a three bedroom which was really spacious, it even included an area with a small table and sofa. When the cleaning lady noticed that we were in need of a fridge to keep a few things cool - the fridge appeared in our room without use asking for it. But the best of the stay is the breakfast. baskets of different rolls and bread, fresh cut fruits (blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, peaches, etc) at least 9 types of smoked ham and cold cuts, tomatoes and mozzarella, fresh cheese, olives, etc, etc.. A Italian restaurant is next door, pharmacy and bakery as well. Nobody is on the desk at the evenings, but there is a key box and you can arrive anytime being sure that everything is taken care of.
