I've read a few of the other reviews and do not agree with them. You have to remember that you're traveling in Europe. There are almost no chain hotels. Most are privately owned. They may fall short in some areas, but it's not from a lack of trying. Most will do whatever they can to make your stay happy and comfortable. Remember that the hotel is their own, independent business that they rely on for their wellbeing. If something is wrong, give them a chance to correct it. ||Having said that, this is not the first time that I've stayed at this hotel. All of my stays have been good. Yes, the English is broken, but you're in Germany. Try throwing around your best broken German and think about how it sounds to them.||Our room was ready when we arrived. It was clean and comfortable. It was a little cold for our taste, but again, it's a European hotel. They don't like it hot and open the windows a lot.||The town of Wolnzach is small and quiet, so you should not have trouble sleeping. Some more bustling cities can wake you up with street noise. Our room was cleaned and replenished every morning, and all of our needs were met.||Breakfast is typical German. It was good and the coffee was strong and hot.||I've not had a bad meal in the hotel restaurant. Maybe some of the negative reviews were from English speakers who can't appreciate anything that isn't a hamburger or a Bud Light. White asparagus was in season during my trip, so I got my fill of it every chance I got. ||The bar is friendly in the evenings and will stay open as late as necessary to accommodate any hard core drinkers.||I won't get into the town as part of this review, but I will say that I like it and it's friendly. No danger walking the streets at night.||We chose this hotel during a trade show. If you're ever been to a trade show or Octoberfest in Munich, it's better to stay outside of the city and commute in. Give this hotel a chance if you're in the...
Read moreMy husband spent 4 nights here last week on a business trip. He reported that the rooms were very basic, and he came home with a terrible rash from the bedding. It could have been the rough sheets, the detergent they used, or lack of a mattress pad. He described the pillows as terrible. Decent bathroom with one little bar of soap and no amenities like lotion. Good shower head and ample hot water. The shower drain clogged up. On the plus side, the staff, who spoke precious little English, were friendly. He ate dinner at the hotel restaurant three times and said it was fine, but since the menu was in German, it was hard to figure out what to order. The breakfast was good and the beer was excellent (of course!) The internet was not good. To be fair, he didn't spend much time in the village, which seems to be known for hops. With the Euro so low compared to dollars, it was a bargain. But they need to improve the sheets and provide mattress pads and upgrade the pillows. Some English translations would be helpful. Take your dictionary or translation device if you don't speak German. And maybe a sleeping bag for the bed. The good news was that It was very clean and they did put little candies in the...
Read moreWe lived in this town for 3 years and stayed at this hotel for several days during the move-in process. At the time, we spoke next to no German but had no communication problems with the hotel staff. They were extremely accommodating of our family, getting a room with enough beds for our children and our cat and were willing to do whatever we needed. Our rooms were lovely with plenty of toiletries in the bathroom. We moved down to this hotel from a larger one in Ingolstadt and we were glad we did. Wolnzach is a quaint small town where you feel safe and welcome. There are several great restaurants (a beer garden and pizza place became our favs) and an old church clock that still chimes the hours. It is a smaller town, not tourist-y, so don't expect everything geared toward American tourists. The hotel style is very typical of many, many German hotels. It was very clean and well kept and I have recommended this hotel to others...
