On the 16th of December, 2023, we had an event at the Kumasi branch, which they intentionally turned off our electric supply. We initially booked one of their space (Tetteh Quarshie), through |Maame Ama, a manager, which was later relayed to me a day before the event by Philomina, an employee, that since the head count was not enough, we have to pay 7,000 gh extra. Philomina then showcased a new place which was very small to turn and suggested that we take that event room. She then expressed to me that the place we booked has an even in the morning which not even permit us to get the place in time if they decide to give that place to us. I told her it will be fine, we will take the initial venue. I told her that the money she's talking about news to me, because it's my first time hearing about it, and will get back to her. I tried getting in touch with the person who led us and the one who signed our contract but I couldn't get through till the next morning (the day of the event). Golden Bean gave us horrible headache which almost canceled our event if we do not come up with the last minute money request. We finally made a payment after hours of back and forth, which was around 6pm, the time of the event. We were shoved around by some of the employees after the payment, because they had to reset up. We finally finished setting up around 8pm, began with the event. At 10:17pm, my DJ was ushered to turn off the music without them talking to me who signed the contract with them. Then a few seconds later, our event hall coincidentally loses power, after the manager on duty ordered an employee to turn off our music. It is not rumored by some of the employees that my group has been forcefully kicked out of Golden Bean Hotel, through a family member who doesn't know anyone from the party group. I questioned him about it and he told me some of the people that were serving at my event were talking about at the church premises the Sunday...
Read moreMy recent experience at the Golden Bean Hotel has been incredibly disappointing, and I feel compelled to share my feedback. From the moment we arrived, the issues began. Our room wasn't ready, and we had to wait an extra 30 minutes despite our reservation.
During our welcome drink, I had to deal with a bug on the floor – not exactly the kind of welcome one expects. Adding to the frustration, we were charged extra for our 2-month-old infant, a fee that was not communicated clearly during the booking process.
The room inconveniences continued with a malfunctioning kettle that not only leaked but also had the wrong plug. Despite bringing this to the staff's attention, it took multiple attempts to get a suitable replacement, and they seemed ill-prepared to address the issue promptly.
The Wi-Fi troubles were equally exasperating. Despite making three requests for assistance, no one came until I personally followed up at the front desk. To my surprise, the root cause was a misspelling of my name in their system – a basic oversight that prolonged the problem unnecessarily.
Even arranging a taxi proved to be a challenge. The staff misunderstood the protocol, expecting me to come to the front desk when the taxi arrived, despite my explicit request for a notification. This miscommunication further added to the frustration of an already unpleasant stay.
Overall, my experience at the Golden Bean Hotel has been marred by a series of disappointments and a lack of attention to detail. I hope this review serves as constructive feedback for the management to improve...
Read moreSo in general Kumasi hotels are not at a great standard that would pull tourism from other locations, but that being said GB is a well known hotel in Kumasi and I would stay again due to lack of other options, the hotel is clean and comfortable. Staff - some staff members like Joseph are highly trained and amazing at there jobs. But others are slow and forgetful sometimes would ask for things and end up waiting for a long time. The hotel - is fully AC, the front door has a lot of steps leading up to it, there is a ramp. The swimming pool is never clean even tho I asked on a number of occasions for it to be clean but I never swam this was one of the main features why I would stay in a hotel, I gave feedback when I was leaving and was met with rolling eyes and I was told again it's cleaned every day. Sometimes wedding parties are hosting at GB and the sound can be loud but this was not a...
