Three separate buildings of a old mansion, have been preserved and restored, turned in a unique hotel. Kampos area used to be the place to live for the richest families in Chios during the past centuries. They lived in stone-built mansions. Their estates were surrounded by high walls and full of trees producing oranges, lemons, citrus and olives. |In Perleas, the former owners, members of a ship-owners family, have paid full attention to each and every detail to restore and preserve the buildings and the estate. The result is astonishing. Rooms are spacious, well equipped but still provide a sense of the glorious past. As an extra, items belonging to the personal collection of the former owners have been used as decorative- in our room an old cinema projector dominated the living room (photo). |A family of four, we stayed for four nights. A paved corridor, shadowed by trees led to our building. The two rooms were connected, each had of course a separate bathroom (with excellent local products) and the living room was spacious and had a small fridge and a fully equipped kitchenette. Each bedroom had its own private veranda. Upper store room had more light, as expected. |Breakfast was nice, using lots of products from the estate, some people come to Perleas only to have breakfast. |Stuff was very friendly, polite and helpful. We visited during summer 2020 and all precautions necessary were used or taken by stuff and management. |Tip: prefer the separate building for quite and privacy, it’s a two minutes walk from the main building. |For improvement: WiFi speed :-) ||You need a car to move around in Chios, don’t forget it’s a big island. |In general, totally recommended, one of the places I would love to...
Read moreJust returned from 4 days at Perleas. Our family of 6 had the entire top floor of the main house (3 bedrooms, each with its own bath), plus a sitting area and gorgeous outdoor patio overlooking the orchard. From our first arrival, Stella (Manager) encouraged us to make this our "home" -- and it was! Beautiful setting in the "Kambo" (old fortress), among the citrus groves. It is authentically rustic but very comfortable. We enjoyed the short walk into the town of Thimiana, where we found a bakery, small grocery, and the adorable Roussiko tavern. We had a breakfast feast awaiting us daily (included) -- and every afternoon found delicious goodies awaiting us in our rooms (cookies, custard, candies). Stella and the staff treated us like family. The setting is idyllic -- and was a perfect retreat after a day out exploring the historical sights across Chios. Thank you Stella for your "Filoxeni"! We...
Read moreMy wife and I spent a week here after having spent two weeks on Crete. If you feel the urge to relax and enjoy Greece, Chios is the place. And Perleas Mansion in the town of Cambos is the best place we found to enjoy it all. The staff will see to your comfort and privacy. The mansion is exceptionally maintained as are its rooms. It sits on a productive citrus grove that you can walk through and enjoy. The second floor has a veranda from which you can appreciate the star filled evening sky. It has a park lot facility for your convenience that is within walking distance through the groves of orange and tangerine trees. Cambos is known for its high stone walled streets and the street on which this beautiful estate is located is no exception, but what lies within its walls is truly a treat. The estate manager, Stella made certain to make our brief stay here memorable. We highly recommend...
