I arrived weary and tired to the village of Perama in Ioannina and was greeted by name by the lovely Ellie at the door to her little shop. The rooms upstairs had a beautiful view over ioannina lake and the magnificent Pindus mountain range. The rooms are extremely clean and tidy, equipped with a little fridge to keep food in and utensils, bowl and plate. Ellie, Olga (Ellie’s Mum) and her other sister are some of the most hospitable people I have ever met and did everything in their power to ensure my stay was comfortable and safe. They were even so kind as to look after my large bag whilst I went hiking for two days through the vikos gorge. Read moreWe didn’t stay at her apartments but based on our experience it wouldn’t worth it. We wanted to visit the Perama Caves and the lady which is the owner of the apartments offered us a parking lot. We thought she just wanted to help only to realize that she just wanted to promote her apartments. That lady also has a mini market, selling goods purchased from other companies which I found completely humiliating. When we went back to get our car from her parking lot, she didn’t let us leave unless we purchased something from her store. In the end, one of us purchased something from her but she still insisted on buying something more. She is super polite when she gets money, that’s why some people find her polite but she only cares about money. Definitely not...
