I was attracted to this hotel for it's beach front location and the beach was indeed stunning and steps away from our accommodation. We booked 2 rooms with 'garden view' for 10 nights half board. In our rooms the patio doors lead directly to the garden which leads to the beach so it was a nice surprise to actually have a sea view! The rooms were ok, maybe a little old, a couple of patches of crumbling plaster and slight musty smell on first arrival. Slow drain in shower so water floods out but nothing major, comfy bed and maid service daily with fresh towels/toiletries. The staff at this hotel are absolutely lovely, attentive, polite and very friendly, both at reception, when in the restaurant and even whilst sunbathing round the pool we were always asked if we wanted anything. The food was very good with lots of choice and variations every day. We never had to queue for anything or reserve any sunbeds be it on the beach (free loungers with the round rattan umbrellas) or round the pools which was a welcome change, the resort is so big it felt quiet. We were able to order food and drinks to the beach or round the pool which was a great service. A couple of things to mention which lost a point; for a five star hotel we expected to have water available during our evening meals, charging for this I don't agree with (3 euros each bottle) I felt that the toilets underground by the main pool are not five star, they never seemed clean enough, quite old and outdated, would be great to see a new toilet block installed in the hotel reception, on floor level as even the toilets in reception are downstairs which had a musty smell as you decended the steps. This hotel is a haven for wildlife, it was lovely watching the many swallows swooping over the pools, there were many nests in the corners of the buildings, there are also a fair few pigeons that like to sit on the arched beams of the outdoor bar (watch where you sit, our son got a 'deposit' on his shoulder! ) This bar serves amazing cocktails, the frozen strawberry daiquiri was the best I've had. The pools are are beautiful, clean and well maintained, we loved swimming under all the bridges! We did zumba in the pool which is on weekends only, really it could do with music to liven it up a bit and make it fun. We had massages in the spa which were very good and a great price, we also did watersports outside the hotel which were great but the highlight for us was hiring a car to explore for 2 days (there's info at reception) we went up into Mount Olympus (about 40mins drive) and swam in the pools and waterfalls, absolutely stunning! Also there's a wonderful old Monastery towards the top of the mountain we visited. Outside the hotel directly opposite is a fresh smoothie seller, very good! And if you walk left out of the hotel there are some wonderful beach bars, Mandala bar was our favourite, complimentary water and tapas board with every drink order! To summarise this is a beautiful hotel with lovely staff in the most...
Read moreWe recently stayed at the Mediterranean Village Hotel and Spa in Katerini for 8 nights, and unfortunately, our experience was far from what we had hoped for. While the hotel’s location and exterior might initially impress, several significant issues overshadowed our stay. The cleanliness of the rooms left much to be desired. The housekeeping service was inconsistent and basic amenities often missing. We have met the Cleaning Service supervisor but this role is not for her at all. I suppose that the cleanliness level is so low because of her incompetence. She doesn’t speak even a word in English which is unacceptable for 5* hotel in EU and she looks and acts so mean. It seems that all the staff which is under her are afraid of her. Just let this woman go immediately, so she can do work that suits her, not what she’s doing now. The customer service was also disappointing. The staff seemed indifferent and unhelpful, lacking the warmth and professionalism one would expect from a hotel of this caliber. Requests for assistance were met with long wait times or were simply ignored. We will say good word only for the guy from the night shift. He is perfect. Additionally, the food quality at the hotel restaurant was below average. The buffet lacked variety, and many dishes tasted bland and uninspired. We expected a much higher standard of dining. The waiters in the main restaurant are great. The worst part is the beach and the influx of people from outside the hotel. Many of them come and occupy the hotel’s sunbeds in areas designated exclusively for guests. There is no control whatsoever from the hotel. Others stay right next to the last row of the hotel's sunbeds, so you end up listening to large groups of Greek families all day long. Additionally, there were many cars parked on the sand next to our sunbed area, creating a total mess. So, you end up paying 300-400 EUR per night for disgusting food, dirty rooms, and a public beach area that is used by many people from the villages around Katerini. In Facebook groups, people mention that they can use the sunbeds at Mediterranean Village for free, as there is no control. Additionally, there were outsiders around us with dogs, bathing alongside other guests. Overall, our stay at the Mediterranean Village Hotel and Spa was a disappointing experience. We would not recommend this hotel to others. This hotel is extremely low in quality and service. Never again. Stay far...
Read moreNot a 5 star hotel for sure! Looks like it from far,but if you ever experienced a 5 star hotel you can compare it easily. Cons: Price/service-not matching! In our 6 days stay the rooms were not cleaned(towels changed and bed made, BUT cleaning none).-imagine the floors of a room next to a beach. -and we are very clean people I have to add. We stayed in a room with pool acces (for only adults)- there was no supervision whatsoever who is using the pool and who doesn't (of course we were charged extra for the pool acces, and others used it without paying.- how should I call that if not pocket rippingly unprofessional management-. Do not step into the Manicure/Pedicure Spa treatment- I have no words to describe that experience. Though "Evanghelia" one of the ladies that works there is very kind and welcoming, the materials they use and the whole room is just a health hazard (nail files that were older than a year at least, minimal dezinfection, everything was just thrown in a big plastic box and of course taken out from the same place, NO LIGHTNING!!! In a so called "nail salon"!! A JOKE! It is mearly a cellar room with a chair and a table inside!!! If you fear your health, don't let them touch your nails or skin. I can't list the deseases you can have from a used nail file, clipper, polisher and other instruments that are not properly clean! - Pros: Pool is nice to have if there is wind at the beach. The breakfast buffet was alright- but no diversity over the days(for 6 days always the same). Some staff members were up to a 5 star nomination. Location is also good- a 5 min drive to Paralia city which was vibrant and full of people. Overall, it is not that bad but definitely not a 5 star nomination worth hotel, which you can also see from the passive-aggressive answers the hotel management has towards the reviews- there is nothing professional in trying to put people down for explaining their experience!!! You should prevent the bad reviews by working on whatever you find negative. I don't believe we would...
