Golden Sun Villas — Hotel in Lefkada Municipality

I booked in for one week and initial arrival seemed good, Manager showed me the room and said “all new and refurbed” I asked him how to operate the safe and he said “do not use, you can’t open it keeps locking”. When he left I checked over the room, one very thin pillow on each bed, open the wardrobe to find 3 shabby hangers no more. I went to ask him for some more hangers and and pillows and he marched into my room and started opening all the drawers and cupboards insisting I couldn’t find them. I asked for the ironing board and he said “I don’t know somebody took it. In looking at the room I realised all the mos matched crockery some chipped and cracked and no teaspoons either. I went to the toilet and it didn’t flush. I went to see the manager and he said “all the toilets are the same here” you have to take cistern lid off and put your hand in the toilet cistern to manually flush it!!! I had so many problems I’ll list, clothes dryer was broken with wires sticking out, after a major fuss bout not being able to keep my passport and wallet safe the next day he miraculously appeared with a safe key that was useless as the safe required batteries and he produce the wrong ones which he left in my room. There was no plug in the sink to wash the dishes again I asked him and he suggested we had taken the plug and also that I had damaged the toilet myself. (Look at previous review obviously an ongoing issue ). Going to the pool the life saving ring supposed to be tied up was being played with by kids in the pool, the so called jacuzzi was a stagnant pool full of insects with the filter floating around an accident waiting to happen. I didn’t even go near the gym as it looked like another accident waiting to happen, no supervision and kids running around. There was ongoing building work too, looked like she’d going up. By this point I wanted to leave as I stated one night and it was really spoiling my holiday. The manager himself is rude, arrogant and a liar, who seems to blame all HIS problems on his cleaning lady or guests, be aware I’m guessing a lot of the reviews are fake and I am certainly not out to make problems for him as he kept saying to me as he makes a good job of causing all these problems himself. I just had an amazing week in Summer Dreams and it was 100 % and my review said so. After hours of phone calls to booking center he finally answered the call from them and after insisting he would only pay half my money back we managed to get him to pay 5 nights back with lots of protesting from him. I am now staying in random places night by night but to be honest I’d rather sleep on my car than spend another night at Golden Sun. He needs to learn some managerial, people skills and help with...

A deeply disappointing stay – at best, unacceptable

Our stay in the prefabricated wooden hut (referred to as a “bungalow”) was anything but pleasant.

From the very beginning, the experience was disorganized and frustrating. No one was there to welcome us upon arrival, and after several unanswered calls, we finally reached the owner — who casually reminded us that he also deserves to enjoy a swim.

Unfortunately, that set the tone for the rest of our stay. The accommodation: • The door handle fell off the moment we tried to enter. • One window faced a chemical toilet and an outdoor “gym”, accompanied by a constant unpleasant smell. • The other window looked out cluttered area with car tires, cables, metal frames, and a green net. · There were no screens on any of the windows • The walls were covered in cobwebs and spiders. • Both trash bins (in the kitchen and bathroom) were broken. • The shower door was unstable and parts would fall off when touched. • The kitchen utensils were dirty, broken, and rusted. We had made our reservation 3 months prior to our visit ( with 50% deposit) - for 3 families with kids . .One week prior to our visit we called the owner for confirmation ... all good !!! But two days prior to our arrival we received a phone call that there are no availabilities !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Apparently the owner has double booked the rooms - all of them - something that as he said is typical to be made in order to make sure that the hotel has no vacancies ....... We demanded that he should look for other accommodation at a hotel with facilities similar to Golden Sun .... He found us and suggested three rooms in three different hotels with extremely low standards!!! After numerous phone calls back and forward we managed to get our deposit back with no further reservation from their behalf !!!!! Therefore as you understand my suggestion to you dear travelers is STAY AWAY !!! This is by far the most unprofessional behavior that I have ever come accross ... and I have travelled...
