To flee, unless you want to ruin your vacation
After 14 days spent at Elounda Solfez Villa, I cannot resign myself to not leaving a review .
Do not book ! This succession of villa is nothing luxurious apart from its price.
The exchanges with Mr.Lygeros were more than unpleasant and he showed no form of understanding.
Indeed, for the price paid (well above the other villas on booking for the same period) it is logical to expect a certain standing.
The outside was the nicest thing in this villa (partly thanks to the view) but cruelly lacking in layout: no umbrella, no shower, no toilet - you have to go up two floors if you have a pressing desire- no outdoor kitchen: a micro kitchen on the first floor of the house so you have to go up and down if you want to cook and have lunch by the pool) - the deckchairs and their mattresses are at the end of their life.
For the rest:
A decoration straight out of a kitsch magazine of the 90s (the photos are taken from an angle that let’s say is more than flattering)
Equipment that also date from the 90s, which have not been changed since the construction of the villa so everything is broken or about to be (fridge, dishwasher, coffee maker, air conditioning, deckchairs...)
An ultra noisy air conditioning that works when it wants to.
A climb to access the villa of more than 35 degrees that is not mentioned anywhere on their website (even taxis were reluctant to drop us off)
The worst being the quality of the rooms and bedding: the rooms are cramped with very little storage. We spent the entire stay without being able to properly unpack our suitcases.
The bedding was just catastrophic.
Beds much too soft: unless you like to sink and feel the springs in your ribs?
Roarsh sheets and uncomfortable pillows
In the upper bedroom, again Surprise ! No shutters on all windows, so the light takes away the last chance of sleeping every morning at 5:30 am.
None of us has slept properly. We are leaving after 2 two weeks of « holidays » exhausted and with back pain.
a wifi connection that does not even allow you to load a page in some places of the « villa »
We were really disappointed with the way all this was managed by the manager who apart from putting pads on the beds (which did not change much) responded to us in a more than hauthful and disdainful way during our exchanges and did not propose ANY solution or compensation.
These problems were all brought up, none were solved during our stay.
The value for money is simply scandalous.
NB: the housekeeper who passed by every two days was very kind...
Read moreThe villa is a small complex of 6 identical three bedroom units complete with small kitchen, living room, multiple decks, book, BBQ, and lounge chairs. The highlight is the view – just amazing really. You see the entire Elouda bay and town and in the distance at the far end of bay Spinalonga island (a must visit if you are into history). There are some challenges with the units – they are “stacked” configuration so you come in on the middle floor (where the carport is) and there is a steep winding staircase up to the top bedroom with queen bed, small bathroom and a nice sitting deck (which more amazing views). Back down to the middle floor you continue down another floor to two smaller bedrooms, one with a queen bed and one with two twin beds. A slightly larger bathroom with tub is between the two bedrooms. Both room open up onto the pool deck where there is a large table and chairs. The finishing's are a fine, not luxurious but a bit dated. There is a tiny TV’s in the bedrooms and one larger TV in the living room. In the heat of the summer you will spend a lot of time in the pool. Each bedroom has a unit air conditioner. ||||Key point on these villas – they are NOT walkable from anywhere. You must have a rental car to access them as the are several kilometers out of town up on the hill. it would be best to arrive the first time in the daylight as it is located off a small road with several fork before turning up is a very very steep long drive. The road is one way so make sure you look to see if there is a descending or arriving vehicle!||||Overall if you are looking for a place for up to six people, want to make some of your own food rather than eating at restaurants every day, and have a rental car (there is really only one parking spot per unit at the apartment but there are a few extra next to the first...
Read moreGreat x2 week stay in Villa Fa this August. The property is x1 of 8 townhouse style villas at the top of a hill at the back entrance to Elounda. The property has x3 bedrooms, x2 downstairs at pool/yard level with a shared bathroom and a main double upstairs with its own bathroom and balcony. The villas are spotlessly clean, with Hippo the sons owner coming every day at 7pm to clean the pool and the villa itself is cleaned and sheets/towels changed every other day by x2 charming cleaners. The views over The Bay of Mirabello and Elounda are wonderful. We had a welcome bottle of wine and some groceries ready stocked on our arrival which was a lovely touch. Kitchen is very well supplied with dishwash, washing machine, fridge freezer etc. You need a car and the road upto the villa (called Spartans way) is very very steep. Once you get the hang of driving up, you will be ok (1st gear all the way). Hippo that manages the arrivals is a fantastic guy, it's a shame every villa rental doesn't have him. Any problems (there wasn't any) would have been seen to as he is at the end of a mobile and only lives 5 mins away. His recommendations on places to visit and eat are well worth listening to. We travelled with x3 kids 8-14 and the pool was a perfect size for them. A great...
