So I’m doing this review because most are on booking.com and I want to rest assure people that this place is still very much fully operational even though communication from the property is appalling.||I booked here as we had a wedding in the area and thought it would be better to be as close as possible.||Elianthos villas is a lovely peaceful escape it’s a small development with a lovely pool and lots of various comfortable seating areas ideal if you want to do nothing but also if you hire a car and use it as a base to explore from which I did not as I drive for a living so had to use taxis which would have cost roughly the same as hiring a car.||If you are not great at walking or disabled then I would not recommend unless you have a car as the walk down to the village is fine but it’s the coming back up is a killer especially with bags of shopping.||In the square you have a couple of bars a patisserie a mini market (expensive) and just opposite up a side road you have a lovely Greek bakers there are also various restaurants scattered about some look disgusting but are actually quite good apart from that there isn’t much else there that’s why we paid €40 return to Almyrida beach worth every penny we also ate there in various gorgeous restaurants which is where I would stay if I returned.||Our accommodation was sage villa it was clean and comfortable with a little oven two electric hobs a kettle an iron enough for you to get by our beds where changed twice whilst we were there but the cleaner does not like to give you toilet paper and forgot to empty our bin as you are not allowed to flush it down the toilet (we are in 2025 aren’t we) so had to get rid of it ourselves.||The self check in is not a problem it’s just a key safe that upon landing you get an email with all the details also on entering the apartment we were greeted with a lovely bottle of wine, fruit, biscuits, water which I thought was very kind and towards the end we were given a nice gift and asked to write in the guess book which my wife did.||There is build work going on at the back and the side of Elianthos villas but to be honest it did not bother us at all and was not to noisy on the days we did not go to the beach it’s not in your face when sitting round the pool but what is in your face and very annoying is the wasps that you get by the shallow end and the sectioned off which I would call the kids pool you would not be able to put your kids in there I did contact Elianthos and got a poor excuse back from the and when I tried to respond to it my emails were no longer being received.||I would not personally stay here again as it’s too remote for me but I did have a nice time and would recommend it as a base if you’re going...
Read moreThis lovely place was flawed for us by the incredibly inhospitable host. His son who was in the UK was very helpful over the phone, otherwise we would not have gained access despite fixing a time window for arrival. Host doesn't speak any English at all but immediately asked for payment in "cash" - despite the booking confirmation saying one could pay by credit card. He was surly and extremely unfriendly. Our apartment was on the first floor, large, with a nice balcony and tastefully and comfortably furnished. The pool is lovely and sun beds and parasols were good. There is no toilet facility by the pool so one has to go back up to the room. We couldn't use the balcony at night because both outside lights weren't working, which we didn't realise until it was dark. Our booking was supposed to include a welcome drink which we had to ask for via the owner's son by phone again and we were then given a bottle of wine. Although the property itself is nice we were upset by the generally unpleasant behaviour of the host, who the next morning refused to even smile to return our greeting. The cleaner was pleasant however, when we checked out. There were several other apartments with guests, one of whom had also had difficulty gaining access on arrival. Although we really appreciated the help given by phone from the owner's son for our arrival this was not a proper or satisfactory situation. We have stayed in much more pleasant and friendly properties with incredibly welcoming and helpful hosts than this, at considerably less cost, over a three week touring...
Read moreWe stayed at Elianthos Villas for 2 weeks in Villa Basil.||Despite our prior notification of arrival time, it took us some time after our arrival to finally located a man at the property, who spoke little English, did not appear to be expecting us and was very rude.||After being shown to our apartment, we were not happy with it. There was no iron, hairdryer or safe which should have been provided ( according to the website ). There was a general lack of storage space for clothes and a lack of space for food storage in the kitchen.||My wife spoke to a lady on the phone ( whom we assumed to be the owner ) who wanted to sort these problems out over the phone. My wife insisted that she come and sort things out that day. She arrived later that day, was very pleasant and spoke good English. She came with an iron, hairdryer and safe at the same time I paid her in cash for the 2 weeks stay. This was the only time we saw her.||We were not asked to complete a registration form or provide our passports on arrival as has previously been the case on the many occasions we have stayed on Crete.||The most pleasant and efficient person at Elianthos was the cleaner who kept our apartment spotless and spoke reasonable English.||A few days before we came home I phoned ( the owner ) for a receipt for the accommodation payment, this duly arrived by a person on a motorbike.||Several people turned up during our stay and no one was there to show them their accommodation.||This is no way to run a business and we will never stay at this...
