Tavern Sterna Tou Bloumosifi — Restaurant in Municipality of Apokoronas

Avoid this bad experience! I usually write reviews when places are good, but this time it's important to warn others. I suggest you go to one of the good tavernas nearby instead. There are many one star reviews here, and if you read them, you will see the same complaints. Expensive way higher than the average price, much smaller portions than normal, made to feel unwelcome and ignored, and worst of all, dirty. I tried it once on my own and never planned to go again, but this time I went with friends who were on vacation and who said it was recommended by the local tourist office! It was worse... more expensive, very small portions, food tainted with unpleasant flavours, and very dirty. Someone else mentioned the owner, who stays distant and never greets his customers. Sauteed wild herbs were pleasantly bitter, very nice with a squeeze of lemon. Dolmades were served hot, delicious. Giant baked beans gave me gas for 18 hours, probably because the beans weren't rinsed thoroughly after soaking, before baking, as they should have been. Rooster with lemon sauce was full of small bones. Half the meat on the plate was the neck. Normally a chicken neck is used for stock because it's too difficult to pick out the small bits of meat. At this restaurant the neck comprised most of the entree. The meat pie with lamb and cheese tasted bland, with skin, fat, and various membranes making up much of the meat portion. Horrible!! Service was overworked and forgot initial beer order. Chose the moussaka which was bland and tasted nothing like it should have. To top it off it was cold in the center. (Also why on earth was it served with slices of tomato on each side, the moist of which crept into the moussaka, horrible!!!) The reply when mentioning my dish was cold in th center was "you should've told me sooner". Don't know why because I didn't feel like waiting for a re-reheating whilst watching my partner eat alone who then later on could watch me (try to) eat alone.
