A terrific family owned-and-operated hotel in a very historic location. The best aspect of this property is the service, Vassiliki and Grigoris are the finest hosts that I have ever encountered in my travels. I began my stay by leaving my phone on the intercity bus, it went on to Athens without me, these two terrific people went right to work contacting the bus company and eventually tracked down the bus and driver and locating my phone, even driving me around the area the next morning to intercept the return bus carrying the phone. Above and beyond to say the least, they saved my trip right there, and continued with excellent service for the remainder of my stay.
I visited the area for the ancient site of Mycenae, one of the most fabled in Western civilization, Vassiliki and her family have a long history with the Mycenaean archaeology, her knowledge is deep and first hand. Grigoris has a calm and positive vibe like the Stoics of ancient days, together they form a terrific team, with other family members rounding out the support and service. My room was very clean, quiet, and comfortable, with a view out to the Mycenaean mountain and olive grove. There is a swimming pool on the garden side, and a fantastic terrace out front with sweeping views of the area from the coast to the mountains, perfect for a cold beer after historic explorations. Vassiliki's sister was the chief food service during my stay, the service was excellent and friendly. I believe that their mother did the cooking, which was fantastic, do not miss dinner!
I hope to return to this historic location, and look forward to visiting with these wonderful people again. If you visit this area, stay here, you will be very happy that you...
Read moreOne of the most friendly reception I’ve ever received from a hotel manager. Vasiliki made sure we were comfy and welcomed. Her energy was amazing, cheerful and made you feel immediately at ease. Rooms are basic, functional and the furnishings dated. However, they made up for it by being spotless. On top of that, we had a great view of the surrounding countryside from the balcony. Lucky, the hotel mascot, a black pug, is super friendly and will accept pats from guests. Many dogs stay in the hotel so if you’re an animal lover, you’ll love it.
One of the main draw of this hotel is the swimming pool, with a view of the mountains. So bring your swim wear ;) Mykines is a quiet town after the tourists leave for the day. So it is nice to stay here for a night to experience the quiet Greek village life where locals stand on their verandahs and talk across the street to each other.
Breakfast is not buffet style but served to you as a set for €6 because of COVID. We asked for some second helpings (more juice, an egg and a sandwich) and were charged an extra €3 which we didn’t mind if only they could have made it clear upfront. After our near perfect stay at La Petite Planete, this little extra charge left a tiny...
Read moreMagnifique! I would give 5 stars just for the smiles and courtesy of the owners and hotel staff. Apart from that, this hotel deserves 5 stars for its location, facing the meadow of Argolis, a scenery probably enjoyed by King Agamemnon every day from his palace in ancient times. From here, you can also visit the sites of ancient Nemea and Tirynth, and plan excursions to nearby villages. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The breakfast is wonderful. Homemade jams, biological honey, butter, strained (Greek) yoghurt, fresh seasonal fruit and salad, eggs, cheese, etc., everything so delicious! It was the greatest pleasure to enjoy breakfast on the hotel terrace, viewing the valley of Argolis, and relaxing in an atmosphere full of positive energy, tranquillity, and natural beauty. Dinner can also be ordered after prior request, and it is probably more delicious than other meals served by restaurants in the area. I would recommend it as a restaurant, too. We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The politeness and hospitality of the owners, and the beautiful accommodation they offer at such high standards, strongly motivate us to revisit the place! Thank...
