Golden Valentin Apartments — Hotel in Municipality of Chersonissos

Where do I start? The location was great I must admit, but If there was an option to give zero stars, boy I would have. First of all, the place looks nothing like the pictures online - the whole apartment is smaller than my kitchen at home, and the shower was just about big enough to fit a small child in it let alone a fully grown adult.

However, the reason for the review rating i have given is mainly down to the "hostess", if that's what you can call her. We arrived fairly late, around 11:30PM so naturally my mum wanted a cup of tea and when we asked for some milk, we were quite rudely refused... although frappes and milky coffees were still on offer at that time... What's a bit of milk for a cup of tea? Anyway, as if it couldn't get any worse, the next day we decided to sit by the pool for a bit and I decided to have a bottle of water and a piece of fruit with me. One bite in to my piece of Fruit and the hostess came and told me not to eat my own food at the pool - fair enough, she was selling her own food at the poolside. However, when i politely asked to finish my piece of fruit, she again rudely declined so i had to return to my room to eat the fruit, before trying to relax on holiday. To be honest, if you are not going to allow guests to eat their own food, then you should offer more than just Chips, greek salad and a burger.

Can you imagine, on top of this, our room was not cleaned daily? on DAY 4!!!! yes, DAY 4, our room was cleaned for the first and final time of our week stay - outrageous. When the room was cleaned, we were not left any toilet paper. I proceeded to ask for some and the owner claimed her supplier hadn't supplied any... so a paying guest should not have any toilet paper? In my opinion some emergency supplies should have been purchased for her paying guests in my opinion...

The day before departure, I asked if we could use our room a little longer as our flight was quite late in the day. She flat our refused, saying she was fully booked - which was untrue as the rooms beside ours had been empty for the last two days. She suggested we showered in the freezing cold outdoor public pool.. I wasn't about to let my mum shower outside in front of a bunch of strangers so i offered to pay a bit extra for the room. Surprise surprise the room was available 20 minutes later after she had 'moved a few things around' for us.... rubbish. Money grabbing selfish woman.

This bit really got to me... On the day we were leaving she bought wit hher home made food... not food made in the apartment kitchen to sell, but free home made food offered to some of her more 'preferred' and very young guests... and allowed them to eat it at the pool... while she rubbed sun cream over them... this made me feel uncomfortable!

Finally it was time to leave... we asked where to wait for our transfer and she just pointed towards the door... no good bye, no thank you for your custom, nothing.

Despite the horrible stay we actually had an amazing holiday, because we avoided this place apart from for sleeping after the events that had occured on the first day... bloody unbelievable. If you are not a hospitable person, please do not be in the HOSPITALITY business. People work hard for their money and should nt be treated like this just because they can't afford...

Meest verschrikkelijke vakantie ooit! Denk je lekker naar cherso te gaan met vrienden om veel plezier te hebben, een plek waar “alles kan en alles mag”. Bij Golden Valentin is dat niet zo. Bij aankomst werd er meteen gesist dat we stil moesten zijn terwijl we met veel koffers het terrein op liepen en aan het geluid daarvan dus niks konden doen. vanaf 22:00 uur mocht je niet meer praten, buiten lopen, lachen of zachtjes muziek luisteren. Als je dit wel doet komt er dus een een hele boze man naar je kamer om te schreeuwen dat je stil moet zijn, want anders slaap je op straat. Ook is de boze vrouw erg geïrriteerd over het feit dat wij nederlanders graag een airco willen die zeker kouder dan 36 graden kan. En al helemaal aangezien je hier de hoofdprijs voor betaald. Vervolgens als je al een paar problemen aangegeven hebt word je met veel moeite ineens wakker gemaakt dat je binnen 5 min in een ander huisje moet. Ook vind ze nederlanders over het algemeen erg vervelend want ze luisteren nooit gaf ze aan. Als je na het stappen thuis komt mag je eigenlijk amper ademen de boze man staat op de uit kijk en is klaar om achter je aan komen en vervolgens weer weer boos te schreeuwen. Ook krijg je voor 11 dagen maar 1 wc rol terwijl je de hoofdprijs betaald. De kamers zelf zijn ontzettend smerig. Dat het niet modern is maakt niet veel uit maar het feit dat de kamers voor het laatst in 1920 zijn gepoetst vind ik wel erg smerig. Als je je matras omhoog tilt kan je een aantal verschillende diersoorten vinden. De douche was wit (in 1920 denk ik) nu vol met zwarte schimmel en daardoor stinkt het ook ontzettend. Een 4 persoons kamer is net zo groot als de gemiddelde keuken, je koffers kan je niet kwijt en er is geen opbergruimte. De keuken is prima zolang je hem niet gebruikt, de koelkast was daardoor ook het toppunt van de keuken, even groot als een A3 vel. En dan het zwembad, hier mag ook op het terras niks gegeten worden en ze verkopen alleen maar een blikje drinken aan de bar dus geen eten, je mag niet springen of veel geluid maken en het water is ontzettend vies. Mocht je nou van plan zijn eten te bestellen en dat te laten komen neem het dan vooral zelf aan en ook al zijn je handen vol neem het mee, anders eet die vrouw het gewoon op. Toen we weg gingen gaf ze de helft van de mensen die op dat moment ook vertrokken een hand en nam ze afscheid (waarschijnlijk was ze gewoon blij dat ze van de nederlanders af was) en van de andere helft niet, die kregen een boze blik. Ik vond dit zelf best wel kinderachtig en zeer onprofessioneel! Waar het dus op neer komt is boek hier niet het is zonde van je geld en je betaald hier voor alles de hoofdprijs. Wij zijn bijna 1000 euro voor 10 dagen pp kwijt geweest en hebben een verschrikkelijk vakantie gehad! Trap er niet in en kies voor wat anders, want dit wil je...

After reading the reviews I was a little bit hesitant. Upon arrival everything changed.

Yes it is all a little bit old, but that is Greece. If you want high class things, go to one of the many resort's. The rooms are clean, nothing is broken, and the cleaning lady came every 2 days.

All the reviews about Valentina are ridiculous, she is an absolute sweetheart. The staff working there are there to give you a good time, if they tell you that they want everything to be quiet after 11, you should follow that. If you respect the staff and the rules they give you, you are going to have an amazing holiday that makes you want to come back. Because that's what it's like for us. We had the best time here, and are going back in May.
