Check-in was actually the high point of our stay, George, the friendly and informative front-of-house hero, managed to get us checked in smoothly. Sadly, that was about the last time the words “smooth” or “friendly” applied to our experience.||We’d upgraded to a private pool suite, which sounded like something out of a glossy brochure. In reality, the room was smaller than expected but perfectly fine at first glance. That illusion lasted until Day Two when we were rudely awoken by a smell that can only be described as Eau de Sewage. We flagged it to staff, but the smell came back with more commitment than management ever did. We gave up raising it, clearly there’s no “quick fix” when it comes to plumbing or guest satisfaction here.||Food and drink? Let’s just say if you’ve ever wanted to play a guessing game called “Is this pork, chicken, or just recycled leftovers?” this is your place. The buffet maxed out at about 8 dishes, usually skewers (yes, every single night). Breakfast was the least offensive of the lot, but lunch felt like someone reheated last night’s questionable dinner and called it a new meal. Most dishes sat uncovered, so your choices were: cold food, lukewarm food, or food garnished with flies (protein upgrade included at no charge).||Drinks were equally tragic. The “soft drinks” could strip paint, and the alcohol was so diluted we half expected the bartenders to serve it with a snorkel. We complained about this only to watch management literally laugh it off in front of us, saying “post mix” as if that explained why we were trekking to the local shop to buy our own drinks. First time in any all-inclusive we’ve had to BYOB just to survive.||Meanwhile, if you’re an influencer? Congratulations, you’re playing by a whole different rulebook. We noticed staff bending over backwards for them, offering the “total experience” glassware by the pool (which paying guests were strictly denied), better presentation, and generally a very different atmosphere. It seems management’s strategy is: if you’ve got followers, you get service; if you’ve got a wristband like the rest of us, you get plastic cups and a shrug.||Our “private pool” experience turned into a saga. It was supposed to be cleaned daily, but on Day 3/4 it wasn’t, and by the time we asked why, we were told it would be “tomorrow.” Tomorrow came and went. The water developed a lovely yellow ring around the edge management reassured us this was just suncream (oh good, so definitely not unsanitary then). We lost two pool days waiting for this daily-cleaning-that-wasn’t. I was actually violently sick one night after using the pool, I can’t work out if it’s from the pool or the food, but we move on… | |As for the “slow living” concept? Management nailed that one, mostly by standing around vaping and smoking while the hotel fell to bits around them. The water tasted like it came straight from a public restroom, cocktails were more like fruit squash roulette, and table service in the restaurant was a fantasy unless you were paying.||Sun beds? A comedy in itself. The hotel has 75 rooms that’s about 150 guests on average but only 54 sun beds around the main pool. Cue people sneaking out at 6/7am just to reserve a spot. Watching this circus unfold was more entertaining than any “entertainment” the hotel offered. ||The location doesn’t help either perched on a hill, 20 minutes down to civilisation, 30 minutes crawling back up. Don’t even think about walking at night: it’s pitch black, no lights, and one couple was bitten by a dog on their way back. Magical, really.|So, if you enjoy poor food, watery cocktails, management who treat complaints like stand-up material, and the constant thrill of wondering if your room will smell like a sewer today, Momi Slow Living is the place for you. Unless of course, you’re an influencer in which case, enjoy your glassware and special treatment. For the rest of us mere mortals, we’ll be taking our money (and...
Read moreThis hotel LOOKS amazing. You can tell the amount of work that has gone into the renovations. But I am not sure this hotel knows what it wants to be.
First off, I just want to say that the staff was nothing but friendly and helpful when speaking to them, but a lot of them looked overworked and miserable. Again, I do not blame the actual staff for this, but the whole vibe from them was that they were working too much.
The whole idea that the hotel is a "slow living" hotel seems very nice in theory, but it's not really what I found when I got there. Again, it's like the hotel has an idea of what it wants , but it doesn't deliver it all the way. The bar by the pool keeps blaring music at a volume that seems suitable for more party hotels, and the music choice reminded me more of Ibiza. For any regular hotel catered more to younger people, that would have been expected, but this hotel literally has "slow living" in the name, but I'm not sure where this supposed "slow living" is supposed to come in?
I had a massage, too, and while the therapist was nothing short of amazing (one of the best massages I have ever had, would go back if he was local to me), the treatment room was an issue.
When I first walked in, I thought it was very cool (it kind of looks like a grotto), but while I tried to relax to the spa music and the massage, I could clearly hear the pool bar speakers blare party music. I am not sure if this room was not soundproofed enough, but it definitely took away from the experience.
Again, the grotto and the massage, all part of the slow living brand, but getting disturbed in your massage by Spotify, "summer 2025" list was really annoying.
Then the food. The all-inclusive food. I have learnt not to expect too much by all-inclusive food, but this was bad. Again, the dishes looked great, but most were super bland and boring. It added to Momi's sense of shallowness. LOOKING great on the surface, but not actually delivering on those promises.
The coffee from the machine was awful. There was barely any coffee in that coffee. I would have expected at least half decent brew coffee. The only way to get something resembling real coffee was to walk to the pool bar and ask for an espresso. They cost money, but at €2 a pop, it was worth it.
One of the good things about the hotel was its closeness to town. The town was lovely and very walkable and had some perfectly fine shopping and restaurants. Due to this closeness (10min walk down, 15min back as that was uphill all the way), I was able to get decent food and coffee while there.
The nearest beach is ok but a bit rough (the water is great, though). I recommend taking a taxi to a nicer one if you want a beach day.
All in all, Momi is far from the worst hotel I've stayed at, it was very clean and nice (the rooms were great!), but it missed a sense of what it actually wants to be.
Does Momi want to live up to its slow living branding? Or has management realised that 20-somethings going on group holidays bring in more money and try to cater to them at the same time?
If you know what you're in for and are fine with it, I'd recommend this hotel (skip the all-inclusive option though, it will be cheaper to get better food from town). Just be prepared to rise early and put your towel down on the poolside lounges. They get taken QUICKLY! The hotel has a rule that you can not reserve a sun lounger, but everyone does anyway. The reception has free pool towels you can use and hand back at the end of the day that you can use for this purpose.
Also, do not try the house wine. It is not worth it (even though it's included in the all-inclusive), it's the most sour and cheap wine imaginable. The other drinks that were included were totally fine. The beer is a bog standard lager, which was...
Read moreThe hotel was beautiful and very clean and we mostly had a pleasant time but food and aircon were amongst some issues we've experienced during our stay. ||Upon arrival they very kindly had some sandwiches for us as we have missed dinner due to flight delay. ||During the week there is plenty of space for everyone however on Saturdays and Sundays, which are the main changeover days the hotel is very very busy so free sunbeds are sparse and the restaurant runs quite low on food. ||Partner and I booked in December 2024 though HolidayPirates so we had a great deal for all inclusive, however we wish we just opted for breakfast only as food was underwhelming . ||ROOMS|Rooms are pretty and clean however incredibly dark with no full length mirrors, issued with motion sensor but more on that below. ||FOOD - the bad| Most meats and fish were severely over cooked and bone try - pretty much all rice options through out the week were undercooked or maybe they dried back out to dry rice grains? ||The selection was there through out the week there was : Pork Gyros, questionable chicken??, Rabbit stew, fried Sardines, Mussels, different fish varieties and even very poorly executed sushi - it's just that it was all very over cooked and the sushi rice was raw. Stuffed Tomatoes and peppers had raw rice inside of them. ||We also stumbled across fermented fruit in the breakfast bar (the tinned variety that was fizzy and almost alcoholic when bitten into) so we informed the staff in the restaurant and the following day the same fizzy peaches and fizzy fruit cocktail was out for breakfast so we didn't bother trying to eat after day 2. ||FOOD - the good|Amazing selection of fresh breads, olives, tapenades, fresh hummus, salads and preserved vegetables. |Lovely self serve ice-cream freezer and fun selection of good desserts. ||AIRCON|We also realised that the Hotel room is on a motion sensor and timer, if you didn't move, within 30 minutes all lights, aircon and fan would switch off so nights got very hot when we weren't tossing during sleep and you could not leave your phone to charge when going to dinner or read in bed if you stayed still or even have the mosquito plug in on. Quite inconvenient.|We did ask in reception if there was an override but there must have been a slight language barrier because they sent out maintenance to fix the aircon, the gentleman rightfully deducted that it wasn't broken so the issue wasn't resolved. Unfortunately my partner wasn't getting a good sleep as once aircon switched off the room was reaching up to 30 degrees. ||CATS|There is plenty of cats which are very cute, they don't really want to be touched but will accept food bribes, just be aware that they pee in plant pots in the pool bar and on the laundry bags. ||POOL|2 very nice pools with plenty of seating during the week, quite busy on weekends, no complaints here. ||SPA|Spa is quite small, very nicely decorated and there is only one therapist so no couples treatments but he is fantastic, we both had a "muscle release" massage and we can say for certain that every knot was massaged out. |Great work by him. ||GYM|It's tiny with no aircon so the room gets very hot. ||Although we couldn't get late checkout we were able to spend the rest of the day after checkout, by the pool. We were flying back at 9pm so we had a pleasant last day.|There is a room with showers and towels to freshen up before leaving and luggage storage. ||It's a lovely hotel with potential i just wish they would re-evaluate their choice of chefs and sorted this weird motion sensor set...
