We spent 3 weeks in August at the Maritsa Studios in Potokaki, Samos. It was a perfect holiday and the accomodation offered much more than we expected. Manolis, the owner, came to pick us up at the airport when we arrived, and we immediately realised he was a very friendly and careful host. His studios are very well kept, spacious enough, very clean and comfortable, with a kitchenette with all you need for cooking, air conditioning (which we didn't need because there was always fresh air from the windows), ceiling fan and lovely balconies with sea view. We also found a hair dryer in our studio (studio 5), which wasn't written on the Intenet site, and there is a washing machine at the guests' disposal. Manolis cleans the studios everyday, and he would often leave fresh fruit and vegetables from his garden on our table. They tasted so good! The beautiful Potokaki beach is just opposite the studios, and there is a private part of it intended for Maritsa's guests. It is one of the beaches in Samos we loved the most. You can relax there without any noise around, and sometimes you really feel you are on you own. You can choose either to lie on the sunbeds Manolis has provided (with umbrellas) or to sit under the shade of the beautiful trees. At night, from our studio, all we could hear were the waves of he sea. Also the location of Maritsa Studios is perfect. You can find a mini-market with everything you need and a couple of tavernas within 5 minutes walk from the studios. Pythagorio, with its lovely harbour and the small streets and traditional shops, is very close. We rented a scooter but we also loved to walk there. It was about 30 minutes walk among olive trees and ancient ruins, really unforgettable. By scooter, it takes 5 minutes to go there. In the evening we also loved to go to Ireon, a very nice village with a lot of fish tavernas and friendly people (from Potokaki and Maritsa studios, it was 10 minutes by scooter), and to Chora, 5 minutes. We were so sad to leave, it was the most relaxing holiday ever, and we are so happy we met Manolis and his studios. We will for sure be...
Read moreFor the most relaxing holiday ever why not think about going to Samos. My husband and I have been travelling to the island for the last six years and every holiday has been different in some way but the most enduring memory is of the peace and quiet that surrounds you, you really can get away from the rat race.||The island has a lot to offer the tourist, there are many archaeological sites, some within walking distance, and others can be reached by car or bus. The best preserved Greek site is in Turkey at Ephesus, well worth a trip. The beaches on the island again can be reached by bus, car or boat and Pythagoria is only a 30 minute walk from the resort of Potokaki. ||From the moment that Manolis (the owner) picks you up at the airport you just feel at home, his studios are well kept, he never stops working at them, whether he is painting or working on his beautiful gardens, he is always about to give you help and advice. Most days you will find some fruit of vegetables from Manolis’s garden on your table, he is a very generous man. This is the best place to stay and I would not hesitate to recommend the Maritsa Studios – in fact I will be...
Read moreIf you are looking for a peaceful place, where you feel the typical greek hospitality, where you live this greek feeling of a wonderful vacation every minute, then go to Manolis at Maritsa Studios. ||The rooms are nicely furnished with a very clean bathroom (which is mandatory for us) a small but well equipped kitchen and a balcony which invites you to just sit and sip a class of wine overlooking the sea, watching the red moon rising or even the sun early in the morning (in fact I spent a whole night on the balcony as I just couldn't get enough of this splendid view). ||If you need anything, Manolis is always around to give e helping hand or an advise. ||This year Manolis organized some kajaks to paddle on the sea. We loved this daily exercise as much as swimming or relaxing on the beach right in front of Maritsa Studios.||||Maritsa Studios is a short walk away from Potokaki where you can eat delicious greek specialities and where you find some small shops with fresh bread for breakfast.||||We for sure will be back next year as for us it feels like...
