Just returned from a wonderful 7 days. I was thinking of giving it a really poor review to put people off so we can keep it to ourselves, but this would be unfair to the staff. Anything that the hotel lacks is more than made up by the helpfulness of the staff. Rooms and clean and airy great Aircon, slightly noisy from adjacent room's when running water but it's a small moan nothing terrible. Sea view is absolutely stunning. Good storage and fridge to keep drinks nice and cold. Cleaned daily plus fresh towels daily. From the room side of things the only thing I would like is a better bathroom with maybe a walk in shower and a light switch in the bathroom so not to wake someone if you want to use the loo at night. The food is plentiful and breakfast is great, freshly made omelette is brilliant, with pancakes and juice made to order, plus the buffet to choose from. Local honey is just lovely and once again staff so pleasant and helpful. The pool bar food(extra cost) Once again great nice shade to sit under and large plentiful portions cooked using fresh produce. Poolside shower and cooling water in the pool, some extra parasols poolside would be good as these are fairly limited. The private beach whilst small was clean and sunbeds and loungers, make sure you take beach shoes due to stones. The private beach is ok but definitely quiet and relaxing,we hired a car and tried many other beaches with Tsamadou being our favourite. Hotel beach had bells on the parasol to press and the staff come to you and takes drink order and bring it to you (extra cost for drink, service is part of hotel) Beach towels provided by giving cards to staff you can get clean towels as often as you like. Beach bar in the evening had an amazing chilled vibe but didn't seem to be as busy as we expected but that's due to something I will explain soon. But the barman was a chilled out dude who makes amazing cocktails, entertainment most evenings the Greek night being the highlight. But just sit and relax and enjoy the views. Ok there's going to be a negative. First the evening meals, food is amazing and we left full to the brim every night, however whilst we can't knock the quality or service or amount choices are limited to a set menu with no veggie or vegan options or if you not a fish lover. But if you ask they will give you an alternative. Hard to fault though as food quality is excellent. And the views just amazing, plus to add to it the little bird's who pop along for bread are very cute. Staff are so friendly. So the biggest drawback to the hotel is the hill I suffer from a bad back and the walk up and down is pretty brutal particularly if it's hot. So be prepared to get sweaty and breathless unless 😃 you call the reception with the free phone at the bottom they will come and collect you in a golf buggy, they will do this from rooms also if you are at the bottom of the complex. We chose to walk as we needed the steps and during our stay never failed to go under 14thousand. Overall it's a beautiful hotel, definitely a thumb's up. With the downside being, outdated bathroom's,lack of options for evening meals and the hill, but don't let this put you off because the plus points are definitely worth a few minor issues. Haven't even gotten to the island itself that's for another time but just to say it's the best and free from parties and loud obnoxious drunk's. And as a British citizen there's very few of us around and I love that. An island free from lads on tour and drunk's,...
Read moreWe recently stayed a week at this five-star hotel on Samos, and overall, it was a very enjoyable experience. The setting is beautiful, with one of the island’s best beaches and a relaxing atmosphere—much quieter and calmer than typical resorts. The staff were warm and welcoming, nice little gifts were provided throughout the stay, the grounds were lush and well-maintained, and our stay balanced relaxation with exploration perfectly. Still, there are some areas where improvements could easily raise the experience to true five-star standard.

✅ Positives • Beach & pool: Gorgeous pebble beach with clear water, always some loungers available despite the hotel being full (so in this way I have to disagree with previous reviews, maybe in summer there’s some visitors taking chairs as well in addition to guests) quiet atmosphere without loud music. As guests are mostly 40-60 yo, very laid back. Pool area lively but pleasant. Less chairs available there, this area seems to be more popular. • Breakfast: Excellent with fresh omelettes, pancakes, waffles, good coffee choices (including Freddo cappuccino from the barista machine). Wide variety and tasty. Although as some have noted, not well labeled for people with allergies. • Rooms: Spacious, renovated, modern but simple. Comfortable large bed, sofa, balcony with sea view, enough space to work or relax. • Staff: Extremely friendly and accommodating. Quick to help when asked (e.g., provided kettle when requested). Nice gifts were provided during the stay. • Spa treatments: Massage and pedicure were excellent quality, long and careful, despite being pricey. • Grounds & atmosphere: Beautifully landscaped with plants and banana trees, creating a peaceful setting. • Location value: Around €180/night (what we paid) feels fair compared to other Greek islands with similar facilities. • Accessibility option: Golf cart transport available for guests who cannot manage stairs.
⸻
⚠️ Negatives • Shade at the beach: Umbrellas fixed in place and not adjustable—often leaving loungers in full sun. Likely uncomfortable in July/August. • Food & drink prices: Very expensive compared to local cafés and restaurants (e.g., €6 for a Freddo cappuccino, €17 for a dish with a small portion). • Bathroom design: Shower floods the bathroom due to short glass wall. Poor for a five-star renovation. They could have easily extended the glass wall a bit. • Room details missing: No coffee/tea set, no standard hairdryer, no mosquito net for balcony door, no drying rack on balcony. • Balcony use: Too hot in the morning with no shade, fortunately sun turns away quickly. • Air conditioning: Works well but a bit noisy at night. Due to the lack of a mosquito net door, not possible to sleep with the door open instead. • Fitness area: Only cardio machines, no weights or strength equipment—limited for a “gym.” • Transport: No shuttle or bike rentals. Taxi to town €10–12, walking unsafe. A shuttle service would be a big plus as some people have mentioned. • Accessibility: Resort is hilly with many stairs; golf carts help but not ideal for those with mobility issues.

Overall
A lovely, relaxing stay with a fantastic beach, very good breakfast, and warm staff. Not perfect, but the positives outweigh the negatives. With a few upgrades—better bathroom design, room amenities, gym equipment, and more practical beach shade—this could easily be a top-tier...
Read moreThis is probably one of the frist times I have experienced the pictures didn’t lie. The hotel and outdoor areas are incredibly beautiful and well thought out. We were warmly welcomed outside upon arrival by the friendly hotel staff. Our luggage was taken down to our room while we enjoyed a lovely welcome drink in the lounge. ||The room was clean, stylish, tasteful and modern. The view was absolutely stunning as we had a room both down by the sea and on the top floor. In the room, we found sun hats, slippers, a beach bag and a bottle of wine waiting for us.||We stayed here the first week of September, and the hotel was more or less fully booked. Still, it never felt crowded. There were always sunbeds available at the beach or by the pool. Of course, breakfast was a bit busier, but we always found a table outside on the balcony with panoramic view. The hotel staff also seemed to make sure there was no so-called “towel mafia” reserving sunbeds in advance.|Breakfast was very delicate and offered a wide variety, both healthy and indulgent options. Something for everyone. Everything was spotless and there were always plenty of staff tidying up, refilling and serving fresh coffee or juice on request.||Every day, we received small gifts in the beach bag hung outside our door – bracelets, playing cards, hand fans, white wine, magnets. Such a fun and thoughtful touch.||Taxi prices are fixed, so you can trust that there’s no fuss. €8 down to Pythagoreio, pre-ordered €20 to the airport. The reception arranged taxis quickly, and they always arrived on time.||We always had lunch at the pool bar – fantastic food. We highly recommend the gyros, club sandwich and calamari. Good selection of beer and other drinks too. Prices are a bit higher than in Pythagoreio, but still very reasonable. We also recommend booking the Greek night – an incredible amount of delicious food and drinks for a very fair price.||The beach doesn’t have fine sand, but it’s still very nice. Great for snorkeling along the rocks and cliffs in the water. We saw both small and big fish, squid and sea urchins. ||The hotel is built in levels up a steep hill. Golf carts are available if you prefer, which is perfect for those who have trouble walking. Otherwise, it’s just a short walk up and down – good exercise and not far from top to bottom.||If I have to point out one small negative, which is really insignificant in the bigger picture, it would be the gym. One treadmill was out of order, and the one I used didn’t run smoothly – the belt was slipping. I also missed some weights and overall, the gym standard could be improved to match the rest of the hotel.||Things to do or where to eat; |- Samos Beer - all the beer and the cookie desert!! We got a free tour! | - Aφrodite Garden Restaurant - the iberico gyros. Book a table in advance. Long queues. |- Blue street. |- Hatziioannou Winery - winetasting. €25 per person. All the wines are incredibly good and Georgios is very dedicated. ||This is a very quiet and relaxing hotel for adults. We highly recommend Proteas. The standard is very high considering how affordable our week’s stay was. We truly hope to come back one day – it was heartbreaking to leave. As Proteas themselves say:...
