My girlfriend and I stayed in this lovely little family run hotel for a couple of days this August. Our airline had lost our bags en-route to Greece but had promised to deliver them to Epidavros the next day. In the event, getting our bags proved much more complicated and lengthy than that. Stephanos, his wife and brother who run the hotel bent over backwards to help us. They called the airline, the courier company, and friends to help us. The leant us clothes and swimming gear so that we could at least enjoy the sea and the sun while we waited. They drove us back and forth from the bus station to collect our bags. They are truely hospitable, wonderful people.||||Hotel Heleni itself is lovely. Our room was spacious and comfortable with a little kitchenette. It came with a beautiful balcony from which we sat reading from the Hotel's collection of books, looking out at the deep blue sea through the trees in the garden. Initially we thought we would eat away from the Hotel but once we had tasted Stephanos's mother's cooking we ate there every evening at a table in the garden with a carafe of cold white wine.||||The place is especially family and child friendly, and many families of several nationalities seemingly return there year after year. There is a cat and a dog who happily play together under the shadow of an olive tree which is equipped with a swing for toddlers. The beach is about a 5 minute walk away and is quite busy as there are several other hotels, camp and caravan sites in the area. Hotel Heleni however does have access to its own portion of the beach where it provides sun beds free of charge - though you do have to compete with other guests!||||The Hotel is a good bit down the road from Epidavros town so we would recommend having a car. However, we ourselves used bicycles which Hotel Heleni gave us and found that they were excellent for getting to and from Epidavros, and for exploring different beaches.||||If you are looking for a friendly spot with an easy going relaxed atmosphere and wonderful hospitality, this...
Read moreFound this place on the Internet. Was't sure what to expect, but both my husband and I were absolutely delighted with the hospitality right from our arrival. Like coming home into the bosom of a loved family. Our bourganvilla bordered large balcony was a delight. We decided straight away to stay there for the week and not to travel on. Food, cooked by the mother Eleni and one if her sons, is truly delicious and plentiful, so we dined there every night alfresco on the lawn, on beautifully laid tables. Stefano, the other brother, is front of house with kindness and generosity. Both brothers' families are delightful and we particularly loved Stefano's wife Nicole and their gorgeous young children. Overall, it is a very child-friendly place. We made much use of their little beach, a five minutes' walk away through their own orange grove. Epidavros is not far away and fascinating, as are the underwater ruins of an Ancient Epidavros. Overall, a...
Read moreI generally view with suspicion reviews that focus on the personality of the people who manage a hotel. i want to know if the place is fairly priced, well situated, clean, spacious, well run and well appointed, and suspect that if one gets too infatuated with the owners, it clouds one's judgment. ||Well, our party of 10 stayed at Heleni Hotel for 8 days, so we had plenty of time to experience the place. It is a simple place, but has all the objective qualities mentioned above + a superb private beach. However Nicole and Stefanos really are, to the core, good and kind people. not just polite and professional, but genuinely interested in their guests having a good stay, honest in all their dealings with us, and happy to help. And it made our stay...
