On our week trip in southern Crete we wanted to stay for couple of days in the mountain village of Zaros. It is a small traditional village where you can experience the real Greek way of life.||||If you want to save some money and get the hight quality we recommend Hariklia rent rooms. Their location is on the edge of Zaros facing to the massive mountains. We had room number 1 with small terrase and street view. The room was very tidy and clean. Bathroom was new.there was a quite big fridge in the corner of the room too. We really liked the stony wall which enhances the rural look of the room. We spent a lot of time sitting outside drinking retsina and observing the life going on, just like locals do. If you want more privacy you can sit at the back garden, which is full of orange trees and hanging vines.||||Froso is a lady taking care of the whole place a she does the excellent job. We will not forget her Greek breakfast. The whole table was fulfilled with traditional pastries, sweet and savoury, yogurt and honey, fruits, coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice. She kept bringing the plates till we were really full. She also gave us tiro pitta on our drive to Chersonissos. That was very kind from her.||||When you fancy a refreshing glass of Fredo coffee you can stay in Hariklia. You don't need to go to the fancy cafes. It is so delicious, served with localy produced sesame biscuits which you have to try!||||We will definitely return to this place when we have a drive across Crete again. There would be no point staying in big hotels which pretend to be...
