We took our daughters (21 and 32) son-in-law and two grandchildren to the blue Lagoon resort hotel from 27 August to 7 September 2025. Our grandchildren are aged 4 years and 18 months. This review is based upon our experience.|We arrived very late in the evening after a long day traveling due to plane delays.|Our youngest daughter was staying in the same room as me and my wife so we had arranged for a two bedroom room. There was some confusion regarding our rooms, but the receptionist sorted it out very quickly and gave us an upgrade for both rooms.|Sandwiches were available for late arrivals, which we were grateful for. We were swiftly taken by boogie to our respective rooms and it was great that our rooms were next-door to each other.|Rooms.|The rooms are a little bit tired, but this is to be expected in a large hotel complex which sees constant turnaround of guests. The rooms were cleaned daily as were the bedsheets and the beds were made up each day. I will shower was faulty, which we reported straight away And it was repaired promptly. We had no issues with the room. There is a TV but we didn’t use it. There are tea and coffee making facilities in the fridge to store cold drinks if you wished. We were provided with a small bottle of cold water on arrival. This wasn’t replenished however there are plenty of areas to get cold water throughout the hotel complex. we had a large, super king bed, which was very comfortable. Our daughter had the choice of two beds in the separate bedroom. Overall, the room was spacious. I’m more than large enough for three adults to share without getting in each other’s way.|Food and drink|We mainly at the Nisos buffet and had a wide variety of food to suit all tastes. there was seven of us in our group ranging from 18 months to 66 years old and we all managed to find food that we could all enjoy. There is a wide variety of hot and cold foods as well as choice for vegetarians. We booked the Chinese restaurant for one evening this, however, was pretty chaotic. We all ordered our starters and mains, which all arrived on our table at the same time… 14 separate meals made it very difficult to eat. However, we saw the funny side of it and still had a good time plus the food was OK. The staff at the Nisos and the Chinese restaurant were exceptional and were a credit to themselves and the hotel.|Pools.|There are four pools and I think that we tried them all! The main one is like a huge lagoon, with whirlpool baths and water jets. This is a very busy hotel and the sun loungers were covered in beach towels from the early morning. However, as with most hotels, the majority of lounges were left unused for hours at an end, this is really irritating, and I do wish that hotels in general would make more of an effort to stop this practice. We often struggled to find sufficient lounges for all seven of us in the same location. If you want to rest from the hustle and bustle of kids and loud music, you should try the adult pool. It’s much quieter however we also struggled to find vacant sun loungers. |We are loved the waterpark. I couldn’t get my wife off the lazy river. We took it in turns in racing down the waterslides and the children had a great time in the small paddling pools. There is also a separate children’s pool area which the children really enjoyed. I’ve heard separate reviews complaining that it’s slippery when wet, we always use beach shoes, which prevented slipping.|Drinks|You can order drinks from the servers at the Nisos buffet, from soft drinks to wines and beers, or tea and coffee. There is also a bar at the entertainment tent where you can get beers, wines, cocktails, etc., and soft drinks. There is a bar just off from the lobby (I can’t remember its name), but they became really busy in the evening and it was hard to find a seat. The lobby bar was large and spacious where we often came in the early evening to let the grandchildren blow off a bit of steam. A favorite of mine was the piano bar near to the adult pool. This was more relaxing than some of the other bars the only criticism of this bar is there was live music (which was great), but just a little bit too loud for such a small space. After the live singer had finished, and after the grandchildren had gone to bed, it was time to relax and chat or perhaps have a game of cards, with a nice cocktail or spirit, beer or wine.|Entertainment|The kids club in the early evening was great for the younger children. The animation team worked tirelessly to keep the children entertained, i’m writing this review towards the end of October and the grandchildren are still singing the songs and practicing the dances that they’ve learned on holiday.|Location.|There is not much around the hotel complex. Many people might not want to leave the resort as there is plenty to do there. There is a beach two minute walk from the hotel, but you do have to cross a road to get to it. You have to pay a small price to hire a sun lounger for the day. Beer and soft drinks are free although you have to pay for branded drinks. There is a small jetty that you can walk out to and jump into the sea, but it is a bit rickety. The second time we went to the beach, this had been closed down. we got a taxi into Cos town, which cost €11 for seven of us which we thought was good value for money. Cost town itself is quite a typical tourist beach resort with bars and restaurants galore. We enjoyed walking around the town and buying souvenirs. We also enjoyed visiting some of the...
Read moreNot a 5 or 4 star hotel I've never left a review of any hotel before and it may seem like i am picking this place apart, but usually if i have a bad experience somewhere, something else makes up for it in other apsects and i just get on with it happily, but this place is different and you start to notice everything here.
On arrival you have a €70 tourist tax to pay for the 2 of us, not sure why it is so high as we've been to various greek islands and countries all over europe and never seen this much for tourist tax.
Room(1104) were stupidly small and not enough places to store clothes/makeup things etc. The sink was even in the bedroom next to the bed, not the bathroom? I didnt see any rooms of this layout on their site, or conveniently leave out those pictures of these rooms.
Beds were uncomfy, we asked for a double but got 2x singles with a topper over it, maybe better than nothing some would say, but you can't sleep in the middle as you just sink and sleep in a position which just causes pain, so you just end up sleeping on each bed solo anyway.
There are chickens and roosters around the vicinity of the hotel, so hearing them crow at early hours of the morning keeping you awake is absolutely awful, and sound from the main bar and wedding venue was a joke, but i guess this is down to your luck of room placement.
Safe was an extra cost, not a single hotel i've been to in the last decade has reauired a payment for a safe.
Room key also failed various times which is annoying and needs replacing.
Restaurants were a little tacky and felt cheap, really noisy with clattering and clean up which was generally done on the restaurant floor and not taken away away from guests.
Food was average at best and repeated daily, even on the themed nights there were only slight difference or added things to the menu, but it was the same at lunch and dinner daily, by day 5 i was bored of the food and didnt eat much at all.
Don't bother with the meat counter or any of the counters where you are served a portion of meat or made a burrito by staff, for example i had been given what can literally be described as a mouthful of chicken, almost like a taster in a supermarket and a burrito with a teaspoon of meat, 1 slice of tomato and a couple slices of onion inside.
We didnt bother with the themed restaurants as they were also buffet style, and didnt even include all inclusive drinks too, i really don't understand that.
Bottled water wasn't all inclusive, neither things like milkshakes but you can go and eat as much ice cream as you want at lunch / dinner which doesnt make much sense to me, apparently the tap water is safe to drink but we ended up buying some at the supermarket.
Alcohol was poor tasting, unless you paid for premium branded, so we ended up buying our own in the supermarket again.
If you want to play mini golf, it's a €50 deposit per club, the chance of breaking orlosing the equipment is so slim you're almost guaranteed the money back, but that's an absolutely crazy figure
Arcade seemed ok, but 3 of the games were broken but not signed, so happily took our money, we tried to warn another couple but they said not to worry as the change machine took their notes and didnt give them any money anyway.
Lazy river was small, however the fact there were only 2 kids(which deflated and were removed) and 2 adult rings only available is a joke, so you need to keep an eye on who's exiting to go and grab a ring.
Evening entertainment was typical hotel cheese, nothing wrong with that, but the venue for it had 2 bars. One huge long one for the normal all inclusive band with 1 bartender so the queues were always super long, and another seperate bar for premium drinks, which no one ever went to, so a waste of time for everyone as it was just 1 person serving there.
All in all, it has the ammenities of a 5* resort, but what you really get is a 3* service at a push, but toward the end of the week i couldnt wait to leave it.
Dont waste...
Read moreIt is a 3 star and is most definitely not 5 star. The staff are friendly, polite and the entertainment team are fantastic. The grounds of the hotel are nice apart from being split up by roads, residential houses and shops in between (very bizarre) like it’s been expanded bit by bit. Arrival was smooth and a buggy helped us to our family suite room. All I can say is the room was basic, dated furniture and old fittings, tiles were chipped badly and cracked in the bathroom, as the room is ment for a family of 4 even storage wise it didn’t accommodate us (family of 5, I had to live out of my suitcase) the fire exit map on the back of the front door displayed the blueprints as for 4 so that’s why our 3 kids had 3 singles beds pushed right up together and our sons bed was a metal camp bed (not 5 star accommodation). Our biggest worry and safety risk was as soon as we arrived after checking around the kids bedroom their window was on the landing and broken so it would not shut and lock, so my husband wedged the lock then we complained straight away to tui who sent maintenance up not long after to hit the lock with a hammer so the bolts slotted back in and it could not be opened. Then when we were challenged by management why we didn’t tell them instead of tui I made it very clear it’s not my responsibility full stop it’s the hotels to make sure things like safety are checked before anyone arrives. The pools were extremely cold. At the main pool they have a crepe station. Beach towels you collect and exchange were actual bath towels not beach towels. You receive a few bottles of water in your rooms rusty fridge on arrival after that your only option is tap water from the bars as they say it ‘to be eco friendly’, meanwhile you have straws in plastic wrap, paper napkins instead of material ones, snack food at your waterpark area in cardboard containers with wooden cutlery just to throw away after, plastic toiletry bottles in your bathroom, no where to hang your bathroom towels (I used the few coat hangers we had to hang up bathroom towels) after using them so instead of trying to save them for another use to help be eco friendly just keep changing them, don’t try to cut back on a much needed necessity like bottled water (which when you pay for all inclusive and nowhere in the terms and conditions does it say it’s not included should you have to have no choice but go to a supermarket to buy it) then try to say it’s to be eco friendly when clearly everywhere else you are not, it’s a terrible excuse. The food in all restaurants is not great, it’s either not fully cooked or really cheap ingredients, you have to pay 5.50 euros for fresh orange juice at breakfast (that’s a first for us at an all inclusive). Don’t get me wrong the restaurants surroundings are ok but the food is not nice. We complained 4 days into our 14 day holiday and was asked to attend guest relations, upon arrival there was a dead cockroach right by the doorway of guest relations then we were sat down and asked by management why we have put such a bad review online, you could not write it. (You do see quite a few cockroaches around the hotel but the cats they have on site probably help with that). The drinks are heavily watered down, if you pay for premium drinks (which at a 5 star all drinks should be included at an all inclusive) they are not watered down. The hotel displays a sign ‘blue flag beach 2025’ but the beach has porta loos, is heavily littered, has sewage water which smells and you have to pay 5.00 euros for 2 sunbeds with an umbrella (which again is not 5 star standard at all inclusive). We suffered food poisoning while there (not from the hotel food it was from a restaurant while visiting Zia) so with my husband and I being bed ridden for a day being sick and stomach upset we could not get bottled… (rest of...
