Never again to Hotel Giakalis – and never again with BlueStyle travel agency!!🙅🏼♀️❌
Our room was dirty upon arrival – the towels and bed sheets were stained with brown marks, some looked like dried blood. We reported it to the Blue Style delegate, who was very dismissive and claimed he “never gets complaints” about this hotel. When we asked him to change hotels, even offering to pay the difference, we were told the only option was to buy a new trip and transport ourselves. The older blonde receptionist acted suspiciously, fortunately they eventually changed the linens after we provided them with photos of the dirty sheets.
Housekeepers repeatedly scream down the hallway from 7:00 am, waking everyone. If someone smokes on the balcony nearby, the smoke fills your whole apartment – even with doors shut. The room connecting the restaurant and toilets smells like a smoke chamber, and they store there mattresses and baby cribs. In the evening, people smoke inside the dining area and pool. Very unpleasant if you have children or don't smoke.🚬
Clean (-ish) towels and sheets only by request, once every 3 days. Our room (#208) faced a noisy farm with roosters loudly crowing from midnight till morning.🐓 Noisy doors, broken shower (never fixed), broken toilet seat (finally replaced after 3 days), outdated and broken furniture, and no shower gel or shampoo – only a bar of soap. You only get one room key.
Beds were extremely soft, pillows were old and gross inside. No place to hang towels or laundry – unless you bring your own line and figure out where to hang it. Balcony door had some reddish spots on it - blood? Who knows...
Food was very economic and low quality, always the same, felt recycled and cheap – dry bread, artificial ice cream, not many fresh fruits, cheap sausages. Like a bad school cafeteria with bad hygiene. Drinks available during limited hours (11am–11pm), and you often get them in plastic cups. Coffee was undrinkable. Wine was very cheap. Staff indifferent at best, sometimes bored and look tired. One bartender was nice – if you greeted him in Greek.
Pool hours are limited (10–18h) and very over-chlorinated – you literally see a man dumping chemicals every night. Water in the waterpark is much colder.🏊♂️
Wi-Fi barely works. The bathroom was tiny, the open Greek-style shower floods the floor. The sink was too small to even wash your face comfortably. On the street outside we saw a giant cockroach. Bring your own repellent and earplugs!!
Only two positives: window screens against mosquitos and a fridge in the room.
The beach is lovely – but it is not that close. It's a 10+ minute walk (longer with kids), often windy and full of kitesurfers.
We rented a car from Always Best (500m away) – €40/day and highly recommended! It was much more expensive with booking through Bluestyle.
This was our first and last trip with Blue Style. Think twice before booking. Avoid this agency!!!...
Read moreWow just wow! We consider ourselves very lucky to have come across this gem of a hotel! I feel some reviews on here are really not selling the hotel in a good light so wanted to share our experience. ||We had a late arrival and were greeted by a friendly staff. Our room was spacious and well appointed with an excellent bathroom and small kitchen, sandwiches and drinks were provided for a midnight snack - most welcomed. ||The grounds are stunning and well cared for, clean, a lovely pool with smaller pool for younger children. Plenty of beds in both shade and sun for all. Feline visitors are around and clearly cared for even if they are ‘strays’ food was seen left around the hotel for them in various locations - not concern over their welfare as some other reviews have stated.||All inclusive - 3 good meals each day were provided with a range of options that would cater for most tastes - some reviews I noted criticise the fact that sausages, for example, from breakfast reappear in a lunch stew or salad but frankly that is sensible and practical catering as far as I see it. Tea coffee etc available at breakfast but are chargeable the rest of the day. A range of alcoholic and soft drinks included in the package are available from 10.30am to 10pm at the pool bar, additional drinks can also be purchased if required. ||The staff were just wonderful, always pleased to help out, nothing was too much trouble, were always on hand and we got to know some of them a bit over the course of our stay. ||Location to Marmari beach is a real bonus, the hotel wasn’t over crowded, any over exuberance in the pool by children was dealt with professionally and swiftly so guests were not effected. ||We would definitely visit again and would like to thank all the staff for making our stay so Wonderful. We include recent photos...
Read moreFirst I have to say the hotel looks different than on the original pictures here (but very nice and modern, mainly white and beige color) but all reviews have the right ones.|I didnt expect much from this 3* hotel but I was nicely surprised. Everything was nice, we didnt actually have any problem with anything. Rooms are nice, pools are nice, food is delicious, beach is like 5 min walk, hotel is in the nature, there are cats, goats, cows… there is also dry salt lake like few min walk which is nice to see… really enjoyed our 4 days there.||Positives:|• Close to the airport|• Clean rooms, pools area, didnt have problem with anything |• Room was ready early you dont have to wait till 14h or later, its small hotel so in this case its advantage |• Nature everywhere, calm area, no midnight disco and shouting in the evening|• Very delicious food, not so many choices but we and our kids loved everything, very tasty with tasty herbs, not salty, very good|• There is shower downstairs by the reception in case you arrive early or leave later and you dont have the room (we noticed it later but its good to know)||Negatives:|• I love coffee and you can have cappuccino and other coffee drinks only in the morning otherwise they can offer only filter and you have to pay 3€ for cappuccino, I dont understand that why morning is ok but not in the afternoon, but ok thats how they get money|• Someone prefers beach right next to the hotel, here you have to go for like 5 min walk but perfectly ok also with stroller, we didnt mind at all, there is shower on the beach and for sunbeds you have to pay I think 10€ but you dont have to buy them :)|• Slides were with bit cold water and its bit old but kids...
