My husband and I stayed for 5 nights in the end of August 2025. It was our first stop in the Cyclade islands and so we did not have any expectations yet. I must say after staying here for quite some time, we truly enjoyed it. If you want something away from all the hussle and bussle near the Port area of Naxos, and are looking for something peaceful and beachfront, Medusa takes the win.||The reception uses whatssapp communication which is great. They text you to ask you if all is well and if you need anything, you just simply text them. Works very well. ||The room was small (about 250sqft), but was very comfortable. |- We had a small kitchen sink with counter space, a kettle, some dishes/utensils, and a mini fridge. |- The TV was extremely small (in our room), but it didn’t matter since we weren’t there for that. |- The bed was built on a concrete frame, and the matress was firm, which we like, and we slept wonderfully. |- The AC was over the bed, and very strong. To cool down the tiny room, only took an hour or so. We found out that the AC only works when the balcony/front doors are closed, and it automatically turns on/off within 5 seconds of the doors being open or closed. |- The washroom was very small, which was not ideal, but we managed. The design of the shower was so strange: concrete walls with sides, and an entrance, which meant no chance of preventing water from getting absolutely everywhere. There was a drain in the floor of the washroom, but still, not the best. |- The balcony was quite large and had a view of the second pool in the front of the hotel. We found that the buildings near the front lacked greenery and landscaping, compared to the front. ||The resort itself was composed of multiple buildings of 4-6 units, that were spread out from the front (back) all the way to the front desk (reception). Then there was the seating area for the restaurant and breakfast in the middle. Followed by the beach bar and the main pool, and then the beach chairs/umbrellas near the beach. ||The resort is beach front, which is a huge plus for a hotel on Plaka Beach, in Naxos. This was one of our main criteria when searching for a hotel here. |- The beach was a little rocky, but still beautiful. Some days were rough with bigger waves, some were calm with none at all.|- If you walk towards the right of beach, down towards the middle of Plaka, you get to the most beautiful pristine clear waters. Therefore, Medusa does not have the most beautiful waters at its waterfront, but it doesn’t matter because you still have beach chairs and shelter on the beach.|- The beach chairs in the front row on the beach are limited - I believe I counted 10 umbrellas, 20 chairs total, but there was usually always 1 spot to be found. If not, there are about 20-25 chairs near the pool, beach bar or lounge area. |- The landscaping near the beach was very well kept and everything was so green and lush. |- The bohemian theme follows throughout the property, which I truly enjoy (especially those beach umbrellas). |- The beach bar worker comes does her round once an hour and asks if you want anything to eat/drink from the property, which can be added to your tab and brought directly to you at the pool or beach. |- The sunsets were spectacular!!||The breakfast was included in the resort from 8 to 11am, but was extremely limited in terms of what was free of charge. Very basic inclusions: bread basket, fried eggs or boiled eggs, along with fruits, yogurt and cereal, filtered coffee and two juice options. You won’t go hungry if you don’t pay for additional foods, but it is very repetitive if you are staying multiple nights/mornings. An omelette should not cost 6euros, nor should an espresso or toasted bread. This is something the resort should consider, because other hotels in other islands offer the largest selection of breakfast with no additional costs and the guests leave breakfast happily. ||If you are renting a car and driving to the resort, it is only about 15 minutes from the Port area and the roads are very easily navigatable. The only downside to Medusa was the road to access the property. Unpaved road, very narrow, uneven, rocky and only enough space for 1 car to pass, but it is a two way street. If you get caught with another car coming (which happened nearly every time), you have to take a guess at who has the easiest way to back up all the way and find somewhere to squeeze up against a wall to let the other person go. A real adventure to get to Medusa, every time. It couldn’t be that difficult or expensive to pave the road with some decent concrete, considering we paid 450$CAD, or 275euros per night in the “low season”? Parking was relatively easy to find everyday.||There are also a few friendly cats/kittens that seem to call Medusa home and they roam the property freely, which adds a touch of authenticity to the hotel!||Overall, it was a great little quiet resort and we are happy we stayed here. The hospitality from the workers was really outstanding, and besides the lack of included breakfast options and the adventurous bumpy road to the hotel, we...

So many good things but also quite a few downsides. ||We had an executive suite for 5 nights and payed 1907€ for it. | The room: Spacious but there was a small staircase with 4 steps that was litterally a death trap. We had chosen the room because of a picture with the nice terrasse with chairs and benches and a big umbrella on. There was no umbrella and we asked for one immidiately upon the presentation of the room. But the hotel was not able to provide one. So because it was July and the heat was intense we could only use the terasse after sunset! There was a jacuzzi on the rooftoop but there was no umbrella either so we only used it once. ||The bed was rock hard - litterally. Luckily we had read in another review that we could ask for a top mattres. We did and they provided a wonderful soft top-mattres. They also provided small pillows for us instead of the hard high rise pillows. So after these adjustments we enjoyed excellent sleep quality bedwise. ||The AC was not able to cool down the big room at all though. Suggestion: install a second AC at the buttom floor that points towards the main bed. ||Room service was very inconsistent and a bit sloppy. They didn’t clean used cups and glasses. Sometimes they just removed all glasses and didn’t bring new ones. They almost newer swept the floor. We ate some bread the first day so we noticed the crumbs just kept laying on the floor. The outside benches were full of bird droppings and it was never cleaned during our 5 night stay. |||Beach: Not many hotels has direct beach acces. This one has. Grounds are well kept with nice plants. Above water the beach is very narrow and has nice soft sand. When the wind comes from south/west the front row chairs are in the water. |Under water the beach is rocky most places, so you need reef shoes. On the very left side of the beach you can enter the water barefeet. The rocky buttom is covered in some slimy seaweed and waters are murky all 50 meters from shore. Further out water becomes clear. Naxos had far better beaches to offer than this. But the sunbeds and umbrellas are great! No need for reservation. There are always enough at any time. |The pool is nice but very deep. Not suitable for small children under 150cm. |||Breakfast: Probably the biggest problem for this hotel! They insist on NOT having a buffet -probably because they try to be a bit luxuriuous- but this is totally not working. They take individual orders from a menu. ||The breakfast staff are so nice and they are working so hard. They are running their legs of. One of the breakfast guys speaks several languages and had a great humour! But if you arrive at 9.30 it is impossible for the chef and the staff to keep up with the orders comming in. One day it took 75 minutes from we sat down until we had a bowl of fruit. We adressed this problem to the reception and they did step up the following days. But still the situation was not good. ||The breakfast selection was very limited. My husbands guess was the reason for not making a buffet was that it would look so small that it would be embarrassing. The quality of the food was alright most of the time. The croissants were terrible though (old and stale) and all boiled eggs were served completely cold. ||A lot of items on the breakfast menu cost extra… special coffees, omelets etc. This also took the level of the hotel a notch down. ||Suggestion: Make a nice buffet in the white-glass house next the breakfast area. If you need to charge extra for any items, remove them from the buffet. Do expand your selection quite a bit. Get rid of all the ugly small plastic packs with low quallity marmelade, milk and honey. Get some jars with good local quality figg, orange jam and honey. You can buy that at the local supermarket. |The breakfast did not match the price of the hotel at all.| ||Everything costs extra… yoga classes are 20€, if you drink the 4 complimentary coffee capsules you have to buy extra for encredible 1,5€ per capsule(!!), if you feel like an omelette for breakfast you have to pay 11€. Many more items for breakfast are priced as if you went to a cafe in the city for breakfast!||Beach towels and parking are free. ||The road to the hotel is terrible. If the hotel had not placed so many signs you would think google maps were making a prank again. ||The staff are so enthusiastic and helpful. They really do a great job. ||It seems like the hotel tries to be luxurious… my family called it “a Wanna-be Luxury hotel”. But they have still have a some adjustments to make...
