Savaya Naxos | Beach Bar-Restaurant — Restaurant in Municipality of Naxos and the Lesser Cyclades

Honestly, we had a very bad experience. First of all, we rented sunbeds and an umbrella in the third row for a price of €40, and we were told it was €40 plus €40 in consumption. Fine. A little while later, I overheard that other people, who arrived about an hour after us, were given a different price — also for the third row. They were told it was only €40 and that no consumption was required.

So, after hearing this, I went up to the young woman and said, “You charged me a different price.” She then started telling me that the manager had arrived later and that they had changed the prices, even though I had arrived just an hour earlier. This was the first part of the bad experience, because if I hadn’t overheard that conversation, she would never have told me the price had changed. They didn’t inform other people in the third row like us about the change either.

Then I had a second bad experience because I decided to have lunch at the beach bar. I ordered — making an effort in English — and I thought I had asked for one thing, but it turned out to be something else. When the food arrived, it was not what I wanted, so I told the waiter, “Look, this isn’t what I ordered, I wanted this sandwich, not this one.” Instead of trying to find a solution — like saying “you can pay the difference and we’ll bring you what you want” — he simply told me, “That’s what you ordered,” and turned around and left.

I have already checked online reviews and I can see many negative comments . They simply jump to defend themselves and claim that things didn’t happen the way customers say. So I don’t expect them to acknowledge the error — they’ll probably come up with some excuse — but I’m sharing this...

Great surroundings and garden. We were there for dinner and I would like to share our impressions. Food choice was small, rather for a beach club than a restaurant, with no specific dinner offers. The cheese pie was fine as well as one vegetarian bao ban. The other dishes were at best mediocre in taste and preparation, e.g. inadequate cooking of chicken, hard slices of steak. Drinks were OK, but as we had only virgin cocktails and wine, we can't give a comprehensive opinion. Service was distanced, not especially friendly. The extreme difference between 1L and 0,5L (5:1) in the price of water (Romanian spring water from the Carpathians) has already been mentioned and we noted it as well. Fabulous!! Great views, stylish comfortable restaurant. Great food and unique cocktails. Modern menu - poke bowls, bao buns, Asian twist alongside traditional favourites also with a twist - Greek Salad, burger and club sandwich option. Welcome change to traditional Greek Cuisine (which is also great in Plaka). Owners are super friendly and service excellent, they have done a great job in their first few months of opening. They can only be a great success - do try.

Returning to Naxos for a second year we were so pleased to find Savaya not only thriving but now open for dinner with even more sumptuous dishes on their menu. Best beach, great beach vibe restaurant and an amazing chef whose tastes and presentation are fabulous. Not cheap, but not meant to be.
