After the replay of the owner: To me - this is clearly a scam! We were busted 500 Euro, but at least two other guests were busted too. See the bad comments, we are not alone, so the "positive" comments are not 146! Again false information.
We booked our eleven days stay good in advance, BUT unfortunately we needed to quit our desired special vacation after the first night! We payed for the whole stay in advance an get only partial refund, we lost 500 Euro, but saved our holiday.
I do not understand the good comments! Are they real? You decide.
In my opinion the pictures are not compliant, we had the family room, for me it is a basement with underground yard, no "terrace" and no "partial see view" and by far less light in the rooms as on the pictures. This was the biggest problem for us of all! The water in the toilet was flushing all night. The owner fixed it first after the breakfast, I fixed the shower so we used it successfully, the bathroom is generally too small for the price tag. The furniture is very old and was dirty and smelly. It smelled like dust and mud. I couldn't sleep because of the muddy smell. In the family room, there is no wardrobe or safe. There were death mosquitoes on the net over the big bed. The net was quickly replaced after my complaint - so the owners agreed, that it was not ok! At our arrival the whole room smelled bad because of two bad bananas in the fruit plate which was meant as a welcoming compliment. Overall, we were among the first guests for the season, but nothing in the room was as fresh as it has to be at season opening at this ambitious price tag (again!).
Furthermore, in the property there is only a very small garden with spices, no vegetables and no tomatoes like on the pictures. Locals told us, that it is impossible to grow vegetables that close to the see, especially tomatoes. In the property we didn’t come across any animals like the cow and the chickens from the pictures. In the surrounding - yes, there were cows but they are probably not contributing to the “eco” experience, that costumers expect. The breakfast was ok and with conventional products, only the decoration with herbs was from the “magical garden”. The eggs were very tasty with olives and onion, but “eco”?! I am not sure, please be aware “eco” is not equal “bio”. I don’t think, that I had bio certified products for breakfast, or milk for the coffee coming after quick heating directly from the cow near by.
The food - overpriced at swiss level, nothing like greek local food - and waay to simple to be special - pasta with tomato and risotto with saffron. We did't try it, because we had already our doubts. But the menu is very basic and poor, overexposed, and overpriced (again !) - I would be hard to convince that all of the awards for best food are real. And about this, we were among the first guests, but there was allready an award for 2023 for something… I will let this for other guests to investigate and share, if the awards are real. Another fun fact - the picture on the key holder was from the beach of the hotel near by, not of the beach in front of the property. The owner lady denied, but I checked again and for me - I am pretty sure about this.
The difficult conversations with the owners were civilised.
I think in the description of the property there is generally a lot of marketing and carefully chosen formulations, like “terrace”, “partial sea view”, “eco”, “sustainable gastronomy”, “magic garden”. I am asking myself - what is a “magic garden” - imaginary, disappearing, invisible? I try to find good meaning of “eco” - probably “reused”, “reloved”, “saved”, “recycled”, “minimal” … I will let this for a fun discussion …
My recommendation to the owners - invest in furniture not in marketing! Make upgrades for free when a better room is available, do not open, if you are not ready for the season, change your target group and get full at lower prices. Provide the feeling of Greek summer and not...
Read moreI don't know what part of this "hotel" deserves a 4,7 google stars.
This is even not a hotel. It's a room rent with breakfast. They do not have a hotel building, there is no inside place or restaurant, there is no normal reception (they work in a garden cabin until 5pm). When we came after 5 pm, nobody was there to give us a key and we had to call the owner and wait for a key.
It is just a scam under the excuse of being eco - and I see eco only in that they have nothing that every hotel should have.
The biggest disappointment was BREAKFAST - imagine that you have to eat food that is exposed to the 40 degrees Celsius high temperature and everything is melting. You are sitting outdoors with very little shade (just from a few trees). First they we complained about the food being exposed directly on the sun - especially for milk products. They said that nobody was poisoned so far and that they use some special equipment for food (which is btw only melted ice beneath one plate with cheese). Besides this melted food, there is a list of a few "dishes" that you can choose to eat. They represent the breakfast like it's a Michelin-star restaurant, but the truth is that the food from the list are eggs in 4 different ways and a salmon sandwich with one small slice of salmon and a stone hard bread. Eggs were ok, even tasty, but the portions are really small. E.g. scrabbled eggs with salad - salad is one half of cherry tomato (I am not joking).
Rooms - not clean, they did cleaning once in a while and the room smelled like wet basement.
Location - we wanted some quite area and if you are looking for that, location is good, south part of the island and it was right on the beach. Garden and the ambiance was the best part, it was really nice to sit on a balcony and to enjoy in a quite evening. Still, there is not even a bar in the garden that was working after 5, so you have to have everything in the room.
Overall, this is not a hotel and it's not worth this money definetly. You will get a 2 star room and a breakfast that is of very questionable quality, because everything is exposed to the sun. I guess this is just their way to safe money because people...
Read moreExcellent accommodation on the beautiful and serene beach of Gennadi, in southern Rhodes! The rooms are just as shown in the photos. (Tip: Deluxe double rooms on the first floor are only a few steps above ground level and offer a partial sea view through the tree trunks in the distance. If a sea view is important to you and you’re comfortable with a short climb (about 1.5 flights of stairs), ask for a deluxe double room on the top floor—or, depending on your group size and budget, go for the beachfront villa, located right on the sand!)
The buffet breakfast is of excellent quality, with several tasty à la carte options included in the price (e.g., scrambled eggs in both classic and Greek style, omelets, smoked salmon sandwiches, etc.).
The location is ideal for a relaxing, carefree holiday on one of the island’s best beaches (sandy on top, pebbled at the shore and sandy again a few meters in). Hotel guests can use the sunbeds on the beach free of charge. The beach section feels almost private, as the next hotel (Gennadi Grand Resort) is quite a distance to the right, and non-hotel visitors tend to stay further to the left.
A rental car is highly recommended (there’s free parking on site) for airport transfers, dinner outings to the nearby village, and a bit of sightseeing. If this is your first time on the island, consider extending your stay to explore some must-see attractions—such as the old town and medieval castle of Rhodes, the Acropolis of Lindos, or the sunset from Kritinia Castle, to name just a few. If you’ve already visited these sights, simply sit back, relax, and recharge at this sweet spot—enjoying the sun and sea on the...
