South Bakery - Traditional Products — Restaurant in Municipality of Rhodes

Details below. I don’t get these positive reviews. Lack of hygiene. Indifferent staff. Overrated pastries. Ladies working here simply don’t care. It was a hassle to order as the ladies were harsh and unhelpful with their attitudes. I picked a few pastries then wanted to finish off my order with tea. One lady pointed me towards the tea bags and urged me to choose one even through I told her I wanted black tea and couldn’t read greek and wanted her to pick it for me. She shrugged and moved away without helping me. I was appalled and didn’t know what to do so I picked 2 random tea bags and went back to the cashier. The cashier told me to give the teabags back to the lady who shrugged and went away so I went back to find her but she was busy with doing something else. I hastily paid and moved outside as I didn’t feel welcome inside the store. Pastries are mediocre and taste like margarine. What’s more, there was body hair baked into one of the pastries I bought. When I went back to tell them, the lady seemed surprised but didn’t do anything about it. She instead moved away without saying anything. Don’t waste your time and money here. I simply don’t get it....

Unfortunately we visited this place 4 times (everyday) in a row. Every time owner literally makes up the price (always higher) as products have No price tags at all. So first day the sandwich was 1.50, next day 2.0 and than literally what is the price? Its 2 euro… 50. I have been in Rodos already 9 times. Throughout 14 years. Previously back in days this place served good quality products for the same price. Some time ago it went through some kind of renovation and potentialy change of owner and not only products quality DRASTICALLY dropped to be old, untasty and with shortage of fillings but the actual owner keeps ripping tourist off their money making up the prices and last but not least. Greek customers who buy plenty of things like breads sweets croissants and pay cash (No sales evidation on cash Maschine) pay few euro for everything right before a turist customer with made up by owner double or tripled the price. The coffee is always fresh and you can buy so many different coffee drinks. You can buy many baked goods, Cakes, Ice Cream and gifts. The Staff are really nice and so professional. It should be noted I am originally from Dublin, Ireland. Lived in the United States for over thirty years and traveled all over the world with the United States Marines.
