In 1896 Athens Greece celebrated the first Olympiad of the modern era founded on the values of friendship, respect and excellence. By coincidence we booked into the Lindos Grand Resort and Spa on October 4th 2025 exactly 150 years after the first archaeological excavations of ancient Olympiad an event now being celebrated for what it offered up in shaping the modern world. And in 1968 at the Mexico Olympics Bob Beaman made an astonishing long jump. So huge in fact commentators said it would last for 1000 years but it didn't, it lasted just 23. The point is there will always be remarkable individuals who are not interested in being average but rather choose the pursuit of excellence, friendship and respect exemplified in the natural leader Alex Letsios the General Manager, who can be unfailingly seen walking around ensuring the comfort of guests and responding to their comments. There is no doubt in my mind that his senior management team and staff at the Lindos Grand also have decided on this path. They have chosen the hard route of being the best knowing that by achieving it means there is less competition and of what you become as a person. |Sitting in the Terra Mare restaurant for breakfast that first morning and looking around in a modern blue-sky, sunlit filled room made me think about the word "luxury" and what does it mean to me? Well as I admired the huge array of every imaginable breakfast item, from fish to cheese to meats to eggs to salads to yoghurts to fruits to breads I could go on, it made me think true luxury isn't "things" it's what it gives you ie the complete absence of wanting something, of desire, because it's all here right in front of you. So all you have left to do is savour the delights and think about how privileged you are to be in a position that 99.9% of the world can't and never will be. And never forgetting, your wellbeing is quietly and continuously being overseen by staff led by the highly talented Lydia supported by Tia, Alex Savoulla to name but a few. (by the way the Philippino chefs cook the perfect poached eggs, salamat) |With breakfast over now what? May I suggest you take a walk around the resort because it's really extensive both inside and outside for a true voyage of discovery. |Explore inside, and built underneath the infinity pool, like the colossus of Rhodes with one foot in Asia and one in Europe you will find the cuisine of both continents with the restaurants of La Cucina, Agistra, Acqua e Sale and Takara. Along with a small gym, indoor pool, wine cellar, massage rooms, the list goes on and on, what more could you want in a five star holiday hotel? Looking outside is where you find a complete sensory overload, from the spectacular infinity pool with picture book views of the sea and land and beyond to the private beach (no charge sunbeds!) nestled against the wonderfully warm Mediterranean.|By now it must be time for lunch so why not wander along to the Acqua e Sale or beach bar for great value snacks especially the Pizza and afterwards a snooze by the pool or if you are fortunate enough to have a room with a pool then that has to be your destination until evening. Since you are now familiar as to where all the places to eat are come dinner time then enjoy the first class food and service in any one of them. For that very special occasion be amazed by the fine dining experience in restaurant Thalatta. |And when it's time for bed ask at reception for a buggy to take you if you are up the hill. Speaking of reception please say hello to Angelika Michaelis and of course the indomitable guest relations manager Katerina who always have a cheery kalimera first thing . Pose the question, "can you help me"? The response is always "yes of course" followed by "now what's your question"? |In conclusion we would place the Lindos Grand in the top tier of any hotel anywhere if you are in pursuit of an outstanding tranquil and serene place to be where you get the chance everyday for it to be your best ever day. Yet there are some who question it's five star rating! I can only think they have never been to any other five star hotel where even the smallest of rooms might cost over €1000 per night and in reading the comments it reminded me of this from the time of the Romans who came way after the first Olympiad ; the Greek stoic Epictetus wrote "Most of what passes for legitimate entertainment is inferior or foolish and only caters to or exploits people's weaknesses. Avoid being one of the mob who indulges in such pastimes. Your life is too short and you have important things to do. Be discriminating about what images and ideas you permit into your mind. If you yourself don't choose what thoughts and images you expose yourself to, someone else will, and their motives may not be the highest. It is the easiest thing in the world to slide imperceptibly into vulgarity. But there's no need for that to happen if you determine not to waste your time and attention on mindless pap.”|― Epictetus, The Art of Living: The Classical Manual on Virtue, Happiness and Effectiveness|Or that of American author Mark Twain who more succinctly wrote "some people bring joy wherever they go, and some bring joy...
Read moreWe recently stayed here and while there were some highlights, too many aspects fell short of expectations for a 5-star resort.||The positives:| • Peaceful and relaxing setting in a beautiful location| • Having our own pool was a real highlight and made the stay much more enjoyable| • The Italian à la carte restaurant was lovely| • Restaurant staff were warm and welcoming||The negatives:| • Rooms are extremely hit and miss. We booked a sea view room with pool, basing our choice on the photos shown on the hotel’s own website (and also used by EasyJet). On arrival, however, the reality was very different — a large concrete wall blocked most of the view. When we raised this with reception, we were told the issue would be looked at the next morning. After breakfast we followed up, only to be told we’d have to wait until midday before a new room was available, meaning our holiday couldn’t truly begin until the problem was resolved. What made the situation worse was the way it was handled: the manager (I believe) dismissed our concerns by blaming EasyJet, despite the fact that both EasyJet and the hotel use the same photos. This felt unprofessional and evasive. We were first offered a worse room near the road, and only after further discussion were we moved next door, where the view was far superior — the kind of view we had expected in the first place. Ultimately, while we were satisfied with the final room, the way the issue was managed was disappointing and not what you would expect from a 5-star hotel. It’s also worth noting that the private pools do overlook each other in places — this wasn’t a problem for us as there was only one neighbouring room, but in the junior suites it could feel less private.| • Check-in was underwhelming. We were quickly acknowledged and asked for our passports, but the receptionist then answered the phone during the process and didn’t really engage with us. We were simply handed a QR code and told to download the app, which didn’t feel like the warm, personal welcome you’d expect at a 5-star hotel. This contrast was even more noticeable when we saw daytime arrivals receiving a much more attentive and personalised check-in.| • Our first room had an unpleasant smell, which maintenance tried to mask with bleach, only for the odour to return.| • The safe in our room did not work. We reported it, and someone came to look at it for around 10 minutes before telling us they would need to inform their manager. Nothing was ever repaired or followed up during our stay, so we were left without a working safe despite it being listed as an included amenity.| • General maintenance was lacking — worn grout in the pool, faulty plugs, uncomfortable chairs without cushions, and areas that didn’t feel 5-star quality.| • Communication was inconsistent. The day before my birthday, I asked reception to arrange a taxi and was told taxis were unavailable due to strikes, so I was simply handed a bus timetable. The next day — my birthday — I was then told a taxi could be booked without any problem. While the gesture of Prosecco and cake in the room was appreciated, the lack of clarity and reassurance was frustrating, especially on a special occasion, and it only got resolved because I was firm with reception. For a 5-star hotel, this kind of miscommunication really shouldn’t happen.| • Dining options were limited. Aside from the buffet (€40pp), there are only the à la carte restaurants, which are all lined up in a row on the ground floor alongside the general day restaurant. We enjoyed the Italian and found the Asian to be fine, but overall the setup felt repetitive and lacked atmosphere. There is also a fine dining option, which we had originally booked, but after finding the food rather bland and similar across the restaurants, we decided against it. Nothing was inedible, but the meals in general lacked flavour and seasoning, which made them all begin to taste the same. Even breakfast, while offering plenty of choice, wasn’t very tasty — nothing seemed properly seasoned. Beyond the hotel, there isn’t much choice unless you pay around €14 for a taxi into Lindos.||Overall:|We had a relaxing holiday thanks to the setting and our private pool, but the hotel does not deliver the service, quality or attention to detail expected of a 5-star property. For that reason, 3...
Read moreHere for our honeymoon and loving it so far! Staff have been nothing but friendly and professional. Warm welcome at arrival and the ladies at reception were complementing my nails (I had custom made press ons made for my wedding) Then a gentleman had kindly taken my suitcase and directed us both to our room, explained everything and departed.
Rooms are lovely spacious and clean with an excellent view. They decorated our bed with petal and roses on pillows (not sure if this comes standard but I assumed it's because they knew this is our honeymoon!) The shampoo, lotion and body wash smell incredible. Learned that in Greece you can't flush toilet paper so watch out for that! Had a great sleep the beds are very comfortable.
The breakfast buffet is amazing, you are literally spoiled for choice. I had a pick and mix of everything to try out. We were too tired to go for food yesterday as it was a long day of travelling to get here so we ordered room service through the app, the gentleman was polite and set up our food outside to enjoy the views while we ate. Enjoyed our lunch today down at the restaurants with the lovely views and weather. Once again friendly attentive staff.
Had a wee nosy around the hotel today to familiarise ourselves. Gym is a decent size and the playroom offers a pool table and foosball. There is also a spa but we haven't checked that out yet. At the pebble beach and there are free lounges to use and it's literally next to the resort. The infinity pool looks really cool and there's lounges around here too. You can rent a gazebo for the day at €80 which also includes fruit platter and two drinks if I remember rightly!
There's a mini market just outside for any little bits and pieces you might need.
If you're a cat lover you're in for a treat, so many cute cats around and they look very well fed and groomed. They are very friendly too so this is my idea of heaven haha!
Went for the dinner buffet, at the time of this review it's €40 per person. There was an extensive choice of food to choose from but personally we will stick to the restaurants going forward as we both have very small appetites and don't eat enough to get our money's worth haha! They have themed nights and we went on the Greek one so I'm glad we at least got to try all the different things!
We were relaxing in our room and heard the doorbell ring and when we answered one of the staff members arrived with a chocolate mousse cake with strawberry. I was confused at first thinking they had the wrong door but he said it was from the manager which was so sweet and thoughtful!
Not sure why they got negative reviews recently because everyone and everything has been lovely so far. Be nice to others and you should get the same treatment back!
Update:
Katalina and George the managers met us in reception and had a chat, they were both so lovely and sweet, you could tell they really care about wanting the best for the resort and customers. We were offered a complimentary dinner in the Italian restaurant which was appreciated and thoroughly enjoyed. Food was delicious and the service once again lovely. We don't drink alcohol but it's great that there's non alcoholic cocktails to choose from!
The lady at the spa reception was very helpful going through the options and giving recommendations while listening to our needs, gifting us a product after booking the Cretan massages (70 mins). We were able to do it together in the same room, although we couldn't see each other or speak it was just nice to be in each others presence and enjoy it together. I had Maria who always made sure throughout I was ok and enjoying it and to let her know at any point if I need her to massage harder or softer (I chose mild). There was relaxing music during the process and I felt great and the most relaxed I've ever felt by the end of it! My husband had Theodore who also had a great experience (he chose moderate). It's not something we often do but as it was a honeymoon we decided to splash out and treat ourselves (€320 in total at time...
