Just home after a lovely 2 weeks at Petra Villas in Gennadi. These three villas are located down a dirt track just a stones throw from a pebbly secluded beach with beautifully clear water. The villa is well equipped with 2 bedrooms, a family bathroom and a downstairs wet room. The outside space is amazing. Pool is a good size and is beautifully lit at night. Gennadi itself is a very small village. If you're looking for lots of nightlife and bars showing Sky sports then it wouldn't be the place for you. If, however you want to experience a more traditional Greek atmosphere then you won't be disappointed. The village has a supermarket, bakery and greengrocers. Gennadi has several good restaurants serving traditional Greek food, fresh seafood and local wines. I would say that you definitely need a car here. The walk into the village and the main beach takes about 25 minutes along a road with no pavement. We attempted it one evening but the speed of the cars was quite unnerving so we took the car every time after that. We used TripAdvisor to decide our evening meals and ate in some beautiful, local restaurants. We were surprised at how inexpensive these meals were. We did drive to Lindos one evening and you could certainly see a vast increase in the price once you were back on the tourist trail. All in all it was a perfect and relaxing holiday. George and Eleni were perfect hosts, providing us with delicious homegrown...
Read moreThis was a beautiful villa that had everything you would need. The hosts George and Helen were very welcoming and helpful if anything needed. We stayed as a family of 5 with young adults and a teenager and all the rooms were comfortable, and the pool a good size. It was lovely to look over the pool and sea from the back balcony and watch the sunset from the front balcony. It is close to the beach with beautiful clear sea which we almost had to ourselves. The sun beds on the beach for the villa are welcoming and it is a stoney beach but we bought beach shoes and it was fine. You could hire boats, jet skis and other activities from the hotel next door although we never got round to it but had hired a car so took trips to LindoS approx 25 mins, the Water Park and Rhodes Town approx an hour and got the bus to Pefkos. We chose Gennadi itself as our daughter is working there for the summer and we fell in love with its traditional charm. It is a lovely quiet local village that has everything you need. We enjoyed the local tavernas and restaurants, Sergios and Nikos and Maria’s being favourites and popping out for a morning coffee...
Read moreSituated down a short dirt track close to the coast these are perfect villas for a self catering stay in the south of Rhodes. The villas are around one km from the pleasant village of Gennadi which has a bakery, supermarket, greengrocers and tavernas, and ca 25 minutes drive from Lindos (go early before all of Faliraki decamps there). Two nice bedrooms, fully equipped kitchen with oven, washing machine and dishwasher, two bathrooms and a much bigger pool than it looks on the pictures. All you need. The owners live on site and are welcoming and discreet. Only niggle is that the air conditioning went haywire in the master bedroom and the spare parts didn't arrive before we left, however the room was well ventilated and luckily it wasn't August...Stayed for four nights and did not want to leave. We enjoyed eating at Mama's Kitchen in Gennadi, and The Lighthouse ca 4km north on the way to Lindos....
