Natura Cottages — Hotel in Municipality of Sitia

For my wife and me, this trip was a sort of honeymoon since we had just gotten married a month ago. After a year and a half of challenges and a super busy life, we were eager to disconnect from the entire world, relax and recharge at Natura Cottages. I'm happy to say that our experience exceeded our expectations, we couldn't be more satisfied with our stay. The cottage was exactly as pictured, and we instantly fell in love with the place. It’s evident that the owners of Natura Cottages love their properties, as every detail was thoughtfully attended to. Our cottage beautifully combined coziness with traditional Greek style. We especially enjoyed the small private garden where we had breakfast each morning in the shade before heading out to explore a new beach. At night, we returned to a perfect silence, broken only by the sounds of crickets. Yet, we were just a five-minute drive from the town of Makri Gialos, with its seaside bars and restaurants. This part of the island is wonderfully natural and less touristy, perfect if you want to run away from the madness of the modern world! We explored several beaches by car, some recommended by Natura Cottages’ website and others I found through my own research. We have stayed in Nature cottages for the past three summers and will be doing so again in 2019. They are situated in Aspros Potamos a small hamlet within easy walking distance of Makriyalos. The cottages are well cared for and situated in a peaceful setting away from the road. Although it is an easy walk down to the village of Makriyalos there is parking available. The owners of the cottages, Emma and George are a lovely couple who are always willing to help with any issues that may arise during your stay. The lady who looks after the properties and does the cleaning, Maria, is also very helpful and friendly. Although Aspros Potamos does not have any amenities itself everything you need can be found in Makriyalos. There are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants and it has medical and dental facilities if required. There is a beautiful beach stretching all the way along the village from its lovely harbour area which is perfect for swimming and soaking up the sun. I stayed a few nights at the Harmony cottage and it was so cozy and very comfortable! My sister joined by surprise and as I had planned to remain for a longer stay we were fortunate enough to be able to move to much larger and wonderful Lithospito. Truly felt at home so I extended our stay even further almost right away! House is spacious and charming and has everything you'll need! Clean crisp towels and linens a fully equipped kitchen super comfortable beds a totally private large courtyard with bbq and a clay oven tables and chairs sun loungers full of green plants and several pomegranate trees an outdoor shower for those hot days and even a space to park your car. It is located a short walk up a small winding road through the olive groves from the beach and village where you can find everything you'll need and if you continue up this small road a tiny bit you'll be at the start of great hiking trails to Aspros Potamos and into Pefki Gorge all the way up to the village of Pefki.
