Very bad experience with this hotel. WE WERE ROBBED on the first day of our vacation. Cleaning lady stole 100 € from us. If you can, don’t choose this hotel. The first problem came when I told the owner of this hotel (Kostas) that we would not be renting a car from his company. He was very angry at us. So that we don't have to look at his angry face all week, we canceled the reservation with a fee of 30 € and we choose his rental company. That’s why I sent him message: "I will come at the hotel in an hour and we will make a deal with you about rent a car. When I came back and checked my wallet I couldn’t believe my eyes. One 100€ banknote from my wallet was missing. At the moment I finally understood why the safe was not working. I'm 100% sure because my father and I split the 1000 € (500 and 500) before our trip to Corfu and I didn't pay anything until then. The only person who was in my room was the cleaning lady or someone from the staff. I tried ask the cleaning lady but she didn’t give me anything back and she pretended that she can’t speak English. Immediately I tried solve this problem with Kostas but he he kept repeating that he believed in his staff. He even cheekily asked me if my sister, who was in the room with me, had stolen the money. He pissed me off. Are you serious? Why would my sister steal money? Another his argument was that we telling stories. Oh come on! Why would we do that? Me and my mother are teachers. Why would we make it up? We are normal family. We wanted to enjoy our vacation, instead we were robbed on the first day. Final advice = don’t use Kostas’s car for transport from airport to the hotel. You have to pay him 50 € for transport + 50 € from hotel to the airport at last day. The way it works is that guests who end their stay bring the car to the airport. Guests who arrive will pick it up again and so on and on. Hotel’s owner only collects hight fees for this service. Taxi is better and cheaper option. On the other hand, Corfu is a beautiful island. However, choose...

Read moreI recently returned from a week’s holiday at the Penelope – not my first visit to this private family-run hotel, and it certainly won’t be my last./||The hotel has twin/double rooms and a few studio apartments (if you prefer self-catering). Balconies have tables and chairs with pool or garden views. All rooms are very clean and comfortable, with air conditioning, and the good-sized bathrooms contain glass shower cubicles. There are fridges, coffee/tea making facilities and safes in every room. All rooms have satellite TV and wi-fi is available throughout the hotel.||The hotel’s pool is not large, but a good enough size for swimming, and there are plenty of sun loungers and an honesty pool bar. A very short walk away you will find small coves for private bathing. Many of the tavernas dotted along the coast (and again within walking distance) offer sunbeds and parasols for use by customers.||Breakfast is buffet-style, with a great choice of hot and cold food. Kostas (the owner) prides himself on customer service, and will do his very best to accommodate dietary requirements. The family also own a local taverna (Boukari Beach) which is within walking distance, although transport can be arranged (there and back) if you wish, and at no charge. The food at the restaurant is very good, with a selection of traditional Greek dishes alongside fresh fish plates (I particularly enjoyed the prawn ravioli this year).||On the subject of Kostas, I have stayed at the hotel for over 20 years and watched it grow. Kostas has spent time visiting other hotels in Europe and has incorporated many amenities that he found during his fact-finding visits, with the result that this small family hotel has many features only seen in larger hotels.||Thank you Kostas for making my stay an enjoyable one, and see you again next year,...
