I read lots of reviews about this place, most of them very positive. However, one I dismissed from a Bulgarian last month was awful. But it was the closest to my experience. However the reader must realise that there are 3 blocks here. Fardini, the pink block. Block A, a completely refurbed block and my block B, a block that had nothing done to it since before the Spartans invaded Crete. So my experiences here refer to Block B upstairs, room 34. Downstairs seemed to have some new doors so maybe an upgrade is on the way. I can only talk about my room and no other, apart from my observations peering into other rooms where I saw luxuries such as air con, flat screen TVs and coffee making facilities. I could only dream.||For 4 nights I couldnt sleep. Not because of the noise from the bars of Kavos but because of the springs and lumps in my mattress. My partners mattress was even worse than mine. Both must have been around since before the times of Zeus. I decided to complain about our predicament, and to managements credit 2 brand new mattresses arrived that day. One of the 2 mugs left for us had more cracks in it than the Acropolis. My tea flowed out of it faster than liquid from Achilles heal. How no one had spotted it before I dont Know. They were happy to change it at the bar and give us a decent knife to cut our loaves of bread.||The shower didnt work properly and leaked all over the bathroom floor. This was also changed for us so that it worked properly, but only if you held it above your head as the new gadget attached to the showerhead didnt fit onto the wall. Oh well, at least it worked.||The next problem was the smell from the bathroom. There was a constant smell from the drain. It did however disappear when the cleaner put chlorine down the drain. For about 4 hours. When I approached management they said that 2 of the rooms had this smell from the septic tank. No other room could be found for us for our 16 day stay, so we persisted with this one. Well, we had to. In the evening the smell gradually disappeared. As you got used to it.||The doors in upstairs B block have too much glass in, so that anyone passing by can see you. Dont walk around naked! The other blocks doors are fine. The door stuck on 2 occasions. Once we couldnt get out for half an hour before we got a guy to push from the outside and once we couldnt get in. The doors are not made very well. I did book my room on expedia. Maybe only expedia people get Block B? You actually get most of what they say you will. Although they said they give you toiletries we only got 2 tiny soaps, no shampoo but toilet roll every day if needed and rubbish collected. Cleaners came in after 5 days, although advertised in expedia as 4 and changed sheets, towels and on one occasion mattresses. The standard of the cleaning was iffy. They didnt use a mop in the bathroom but had a quick sweep which wasnt always sufficient. One cobweb was in the corner when we arrived and still there when we left.||There was a kitchenette but only one electric hob and no preparation area. Fortunately we never cooked so this didnt affect us. It might you. The internet worked reasonably well in the room and out, but there were times it was hard to connect. Outside there is no light for when you go down the stairs in the evening, which led me to stumble a couple of times. A light is needed at the bottom of the stairs.||So, what were the positives here? The fridge freezer worked well. Just a small leak from undeneath which some toilet roll on the floor solved once a day. The pool area was delightful and the pool great to swim in. The bar area very popular and many people enjoyed meals here. However mozzies do hang out here at night, so bring your spray. We noticed people using mozzie coils on the balcony/corridor on the bottom of B block as we observed from our window, balcony and mozzie free. We asked for a non smoking room, so maybe thats why we got upstairs as all downstairs rooms had ash trays. A tip for you lucky smokers. We enjoyed the quiet private beach and Kavos was a 12 mnute walk away. Kavos is excellent for cheap meals, Max deal being our favourite where 2 courses were only 7 euros and huge portions. The shop opposite, Bargain booze is no bargain, but its slightly cheaper than the shops in Kavos. Food is expensive to buy, so it is cheaper to eat out than cook, a big plus point.||Kavos has lots of kids. Well I mean 16 to 18 year olds, but they are harmless and seemed more scared of 2 oldies like us than we were of them. Lots of youngsters seemed to have a mom and dad chaperoning them so they didnt get into trouble. Good parenting and training for their future trips. However many took laughing gas in balloons and ran into our restaurants half naked to use the toilets. Strange children.||We ate in several restaurants that had fab food and were excellent value when you took their meal deals. In fact all of Kavos offered amazing value when you went down town with the kids. Family restaurant, also known as Eves Garden was the best value and food combined, at 7.5 euro for a 3 course meal and 7 euro for a litre of wine. They often threw in a free half litre as we seemed to be the only people tipping their hard work and excellent service when under some pressure. Big Max Diner is excellent, with 2 courses for 7 euro, but beer and wine prices higher than Family. Olympia was good too. 5.50 euro for a 2 course meal, though wine and beer were more expensive than other restaurants. After giving a tip one night, our wine glasses got bigger and free wine appeared. Take note skinflints!||Overall, we had a great time. Our American house keeper was excellent and sorted many of our problems, apart from moving us! Most people we talked to enjoyed their experience, though they were not in Block B! Others in downstairs block B tried to move, but as the hotel was fell, had to stay put. It seemed to be the luck of the draw that we got the booby prize room.Time for a big upgrade in Block B. It reminded me of Greek rooms in the 80s and 90s when you had signs like dont put anything down the toilet that you havent previously eaten. That notice is still in many...

Read moreWell... What can I say about Seaside Resort? ❤❤❤ First time my husband and I have been to Greece and we will be back. Michael & Evvie are the Awesome Twosome 😍 as were all the staff, so friendly couldnt do enough for you. The rooms are all you need. We stayed in number 6. || The guests who were there at the same time as us too were just brilliant company! All in all we will remember this holiday for a very long time! Perfect for the private beach, you can walk about 400 metres out and it will only be waist high. We could see the beach and the stunning swimming pool from our balcony. Far enough away from Kavos so no noise at night, but a wee stroll either by the road or along the beach front takes you to many pubs, clubs and restaurants. €4.80 for a bus to Corfu Town which takes approximately 90 minutes. I would recommend buying a fly/wasp swatter (90cents) as there were a lot of wasps and huge hornets. Take mosquito repellent, but the supermarket just over the road sells pretty good stuff too. I can see us coming back here...
