Kapetanios Luxury villa is a lovely place for a perfect holiday in Corfu… or at least this is what we thought and felt when we first made the reservation. We were 12 persons (10 adults and 2 kids, renting 6 rooms for 7 nights - 3 on the ground floor and 3 on the 1st floor). The worst thing with this accommodation was not even the fact that the rooms were not at all so good looking as in the pictures (the rooms from the 1st floor were more oldish than the ones located on the ground floor), the bathroom was really small and we also had some problems with the water, not having enough pressure for a few days. No, the cherry on top came in our last days here, when the host told us that there is an electricity problem and all the persons located on the ground floor needed to move (in our case, 3 out of 6 rooms). We really thought there was a problem (we were heading to the beach, around 9 AM, when he told us, asking to move before 13:00, because the problem is too complex and, most probably won’t be solved in the next 24 hours), so we accepted to move, but after a few hours (when the friends staying on the 1st floor got back from the beach) we discovered that the rooms we needed to vacate were occupied by other guests and the electricity worked just fine. Basically, it seemed like Thomas and his family double booked the rooms and did not felt the need to say the truth to us, but rather lie us, make us move from the rooms in another house (who was not at all clean, with water not working, and on top with one of our friends’ kid being sick). When we discovered this and confronted the host (it was an old man, who at first seemed a really nice and trustworthy person, most probably Thomas’ father), he said that this is not true, that there are no other families in the rooms we vacated earlier, although there were clear signs of them being occupied. When we told him that we would’ve appreciated his honesty, he continued to lie in our faces. It doesn’t even matter that the rooms we all rented were not as good looking as in the pictures, but being lied and forced to move in another place just for Thomas and his family to win some extra money, double booking the rooms, is the worst thing ever. The friends who were forced to move received their money back for one night, but this does not compensate for the lack of transparency and honesty...
Read moreWe just left, greatfully we did not have to spend too much time in the room ( we stayed on the first floor) We booked 6 rooms here, some of us with kids. Based on the pictures available on every platform we expected to find a nice boutique, with cozy and generous rooms, but soon found out that they used a very skilled photographer. The rooms are small and dated, the AC barely can help with the heat, there is close to none storage- only an old dressing with a funny smell. The bathroom has a little old shower, with a courtain that sticks to you, and if you dont use it, the water flows in the room. Everything was clean, nice pressed linen - they have cleaned the rooms twice and changed the linen and the towels once. They have water issues, not the best preassure and the water stops running when you need it more. On our last day the owner called half of our party ( the ones that had rooms on the ground floor) to get their stuff because there was an electrical issue that had to be resolved and they would be moved to a new location, for free ( they were moved to an old house, that was dirty - they tried to clean it in a rush but was not enough). One of them had a sick child but moved anyway, only to find out later that the owner has doublebooked the rooms and by the afternoon there were other people in those rooms with no electrical issues. Once confronted the owner's father ( because the owner had left the property) stated that they still had issues and they managed to book the rooms again by chance, and turned off the electricity just to prove that they still had issues. They turned it back on a few hours later. The owner sticks with his story that he did the best and did not overbook, and we should be gratefull for the fact that they were moved. My friends did get their money back for the last night, but were rushed out once they tried to get...
Read more5/5 what a lovely stay - excellent value & the most welcoming hosts!!
Thomas, his father, and the whole family were incredibly welcoming, and we had a wonderful stay! Our room was on the ground floor by the pool — spacious, comfy beds, big wardrobe, very clean (with a full deep clean every two days).
The air con was cold and quiet, and the bathroom was perfectly fine for our needs. The only tiny issue was that, during pool cleaning one day, the water pressure dropped by half, but it really wasn’t an issue.
The room also had a fridge and a stovetop, though we didn’t cook!
The pool was fantastic for the kids (and for us too!), with lots of inflatables and toys around. Sun loungers were comfy too & there were always loungers and/or chairs in the shade when you needed it.
The bar was reasonably priced (€4 for a beer, €2,50 for a coke), stayed open late, and the food Thomas and his family prepared was delicious with very generous portions — especially the chips!
The location is excellent: just a five-minute walk from the beach and plenty of restaurants. St. George’s South has a lovely sandy beach with water sports, sun loungers, and supermarkets. A little tip: you can sit on the free loungers at the Cocktail Bar as long as you order drinks there.
We will be back! Thanks...
