VILLA NITES — Hotel in Municipality of Syros and Ermoupoli

I normally do not invest the time to write a thorough review of properties I have stayed in but in this instance my experience was so bad that I felt compelled to write this review. I stayed in this property in August 2021.

I got a sense that something was wrong relatively early on when the host sent me a text message 1 month before check in saying he had not received the full fee for the stay and if he did not receive soon he would cancel my reservation (even though he already had €3,300 as a deposit from me in his bank account!). when I queried this as extremely unusual he said this is his policy.

I promptly paid for the rest of the reservation. A few days before check in I told the host we need to have an additional guest in the villa (our nanny) and asked whether an additional bed could be provided. He said no bed could be provided, she would need to stay in the living room sofa and he would charge us an extra €150 per night. He also said that unless this was resolved before check in he would not allow us in the villa.

The demands kept coming when the day check in he demanded an extra €500 for security deposit for damages – and again he stated this needed to be paid before we can enter the villa.

I found the whole pre check in experience a total turn off – the host was aggressive, did not have any trusts and made you feel completely unwelcome. I paid all the money and then came the day to check in.

The road to the villa is unlike anything I’ve seen before – and I have grown up in Athens. Quite challenging dirt road, steep uphill, narrow with cliff on one side, totally unsuitable for our Mercedes A class. By the time we got up to the villa my wife was a nervous wreck and crying. Our holiday was pretty much ruined before it even started. When we challenged the property concierge abut why this important fact was not stated anywhere in the villa ad she simply deferred to the owner and said she did not know. The villa ad is totally misleading and does not mention anything about difficult access.

We asked for help to source a suitable vehicle to get up and down the mountain but got no meaningful help.

The property itself is nice – very nice views, good finish (not great) but ill thought out in many ways. Only 1 master bedroom so difficult when 2 families share and the swimming pool wall is very rough and a health and safety hazard (2 people from our party got minor injuries).

The bad experience continued when we were told that we are forbidden from using the dishwasher and washing machine! When we complained this was not feasible the owner this is his policy and only his cleaner can touch who comes in the afternoons. Clearly this is not practical if you want to wash towels after a swim, wash dishes after dinner etc.

Finally when we left the villa the owner found a bunch of excuses to keep our entire deposit and when we asked for evidence for the supposed damages we got nothing. This is a nice property but hosted by someone that ensures you will never want to go back! It is not a surprise this villa has no reviews in the many websites its listed in as the owner keeps changing the name (Villa Nites, Villa obsidian etc.) and re-lists when he gets bad reviews.

Without a doubt we fully recommend Villa Nites!!! Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed with treats and surprises for our 10 Year Wedding Anniversary that brought warmth to our hearts!! From the fist moment we arrived at the Luxury Villa we felt very Special!! World Class, Luxury, Six Star Accommodation, spotless clean, modern, elegant, stylish furniture, the villa is full of natural light & breath taking views of the deep blue ocean of the Aegean Sea!! Exceptional staff and management, they were extremely accommodating, they met and exceeded beyond our expectations!! This was one of the top of our list of the Best High quality Stays!!

My Husband & I want to thank all the friendly Staff and management of Villa Nites for such an amazing and Memorable Stay!!! We will definitely come again with friends and Family!!! Looking forward of visiting again Greece, beautiful Syros and Villa Nites!!!

We just arrived from rainy Amsterdam. Oh my God!! The weather, the island of Syros, the sun, the view, the beautiful villa. Just fantastic !! So minimal luxury villa.So bright!! Every detail for our pleasure. The bedrooms, the kitchen,the living room, the outdoor spaces, the pool...!! The owner and the stuff so polite!
