We have just returned from a fantastic holiday at the Hotel Alkyon. We have been coming to Syros for 27 years and this family run hotel has a very special place in our hearts, having held our wedding reception here. The hotel really is a little jewel of paradise and is the perfect place for a relaxing break.|| ||We were very impressed with the COVID-19 protocols in place not only at the hotel, but throughout our journey from the UK to Greece. The sanitisation and distancing procedures at airports, ports, on the ferries and local busses reassured us of any safety concerns at all times. Random COVID-19 testing was carried out on arrival at Athens airport. Again, this was very well organised and I was tested, collected my baggage and boarded a taxi within 25 minutes of arriving.|| ||The hosts - Catherine, Jack, Justine and Caroline have become our adopted Greek-French family and the warmest of welcomes always awaits, not only for us, but for all guests and as Jack always says “everything is possible.” The hotel is of an exceptionally high standard and beautifully presented both inside and out. The pool is Jack’s pride and joy and receives his personal attention every morning. The hotel restaurant is highly recommended for a delicious authentic Greek meal. Top tip: try the stuffed squid! A variety of refreshments are also available from the pool bar, don’t forget to try one of Justine’s mojitos. || ||We spent a number of days chilling out by the pool, the ideal place to relax. The beach at Megas Yialos is around a 10 minute walk. Syros has a number of quaint little villages and sandy beaches, which are well worth a visit, as is the main town Ermoupolis. Make sure to visit Ano Syros and enjoy the breath-taking views. The local bus service runs on a circular route around the island and stops close to the hotel. || ||We are always sad to leave Syros and return home, but we are very happy to have already booked our flights to return in...

Read moreMy family and I had a lovely time. We had two joint rooms so the space was quite adequate. A very relaxing place with typical cycladic decor . The pool is a great plus which our kids took full advantage of (lovely cocktails for adults) . More importantly , the owners are so lovely and always eager to help (especially with our young children ). You feel the warmth of a family owned establishment and that is always a nice characteristic of greek Islands, especially Syros which we always seem to come back to . If you intend to go to Ermoupoli (the main town) , a car or bike is recommended . Small comment which I provide constructively since we loved the place : Breakfast could include some cheese and eggs or ham , smart TVs would also be a nice inclusion if possible. In a nutshell, we loved the hospitality and highly recommend Alkyon for a relaxing and...
