Promising Hotel That Falls Short of Luxury Standards
The hotel is new and visually appealing, with modern aesthetics and well-maintained facilities such as a swimming pool and gym. However, several aspects of our stay were disappointing—especially considering the hotel's positioning and pricing as a luxury establishment. The overall experience did not meet our expectations.
Room & Comfort. The room was clean and small.
The Wifi connection was unstable and frequently dropped, making it difficult to rely on for work or communication. On top of that, mobile 5G reception in the area is poor, so you're left with very limited connectivity options.
We also experienced multiple power outages during our stay and a loud noise at around 3 am. which woke us up and made it hard to get proper rest.
The air conditioning unit blows directly onto the bed, and due to the room’s small size, the temperature drops quickly. If you're sensitive to cold air or prone to nasal discomfort, this could be a significant issue. I got sick after the first night. The hotel team adjusted the air conditioning but at the end it didn’t work propoerly and it was too hot in the room.
Another comfort issue was the mattress, which was extremely soft and lacked proper support. It was uncomfortable and made it difficult to get a good night’s sleep.
Another disappointing aspect: there was no available bottled drink water in the room for every day, no body lotion, and not even a basic amenities kit (like cotton pads), which are typically expected in such hotels
Additionally, small but annoying details affected the sleep experience—like the red and green indicator lights that stay on during the night, which some guests may find disruptive.
We stayed in the Atelier room. While we were aware it would be on the smaller side, the space felt extremely tight for two people. I would strongly recommend booking a larger room if you're planning to stay here as a couple.
Breakfast & Services The breakfast was one of the biggest letdowns. Given that the hotel has a full kitchen, we expected a more varied offering, especially of the salty and cooked dishes. Instead, the selection was extremely basic—even more limited than what we experienced at more modest hotels elsewhere in Greece.
All coffee options apart from basic filter coffee come at an extra charge. If you want a cappuccino or a latte, you’ll have to pay for it—even though a professional barista and high-end machines are available. This felt out of place in a hotel of this category.
Staff & Service The staff were friendly and polite, but unfortunately, they were unable to resolve any of the issues we raised during our stay. Their willingness to help was appreciated, but it seems that many decisions are out of their control.
This hotel has good potential. However, to justify its pricing and luxury positioning, serious improvements are needed in terms of amenities, comfort, and guest experience. Otherwise, management should consider adjusting the pricing to better reflect the actual level of...
Read moreThis is an unusual one for me to review as it sadly didn’t quite suit us but the hotel and staff are lovely! ||First things first, The Staff are all excellent! In particular the reception team, Konstantina & Tasos. Both are from the island and very knowledgable about where to go and what to do etc. We had some great restaurant recommendations and best beaches to visit etc. A great welcoming Team! ||The rooms are very nice. They are spacious and have everything you need for your stay. Annoyingly in our room the vent in the toilet caused such a noise opening and closing with the wind that it genuinely kept us up at night. We reported it but there was nothing they could do as it was the wind. It’s a bad design and definately needs rectifying. (It’s virtually always windy in Tinos so this can’t be an isolated incident), was such a shame! (Hopefully it was just this Room) ||Another slight downside is the Balconies are not hugely private. You basically can see everyone else! ||The hotel pool area and restaurant are very nice. |Breakfast is tasty and a lovely fresh choice too! The gym is excellent and the public areas are all very tasteful. The hotel is spotlessly clean. It does lack a little atmosphere if I’m honest (but then the season was winding down)||My wife had a massage and said it was absolutely excellent and one of the best she’s had. ||Sadly for us the big problem of this hotel is the location. (This may well be a personal issue to us so make up your own mind) ||The hotel does have a lovely view down to the coast as it’s set up on a hillside but it’s in the middle of nowhere. The downside to this is it’s exposed to the wind quite intensely. There is no restaurants/bars or anything around to grab some lunch/Coffee or a sundowner. The beach is a 15-20 minute walk down a cobbley road where you’ll find a few restaurants and beach bars. ||The centre of Tinos Town is a good 25-30 minute walk down a busy road, so realistically you’ll need a taxi/car. This hotel will be perfect if you just want to chill by the pool and eat in the hotel but if you want to get out and about you 100% need a car. The taxi is cheap though to the town at just €6-€8. ||It’s a shame as on one hand we absolutely love the staff and hotel but on the other the location is so far away from what “we” personally like. We wish we could move it down to the coast! ||So I’m going to take one star off for the location and another for the noise in the room severely affecting our sleep, so sadly 3/5. ||In reality if this hotel was in a better location (for us) it would have a 5* review from us for sure! ||I hope you find the review constructive, it sadly just wasn’t quite right for us on this occasion but more an “us” problem rather...
Read moreThere’s no doubt that Ela Tinos is a newly built hotel with a stunning aesthetic and impressive architecture. The design is sleek and modern, and the pool area is visually appealing, though it’s often too windy to fully enjoy. The gym and spa facilities are excellent, offering guests a great opportunity to stay active or unwind in a well-equipped environment.
However, the hotel management falls far short of the five-star standard they claim. Their understanding of hospitality is shockingly lacking. Upon arrival, we found a table with a complimentary card, which raised expectations for a thoughtful gesture—perhaps a bottle of wine, fresh fruit, chocolates, or a traditional Tinos almond sweet. Instead, the card read, “With Compliments! Two bottles of water in the mini bar.” I couldn’t believe it. In Greece, a bottle of water costs about €0.16, and they likely spent more on the card than the water itself!
It gets worse. They provide only two Nespresso capsules on the first day, and you have to pay extra for more during your stay. I’ve stayed in 2-3 star hotels worldwide that offer unlimited capsules for free—this is a first for me at a supposed luxury hotel. Additionally, they don’t provide a bottle of water morning and evening, which is standard for any five-star establishment. Shockingly, for a five-star hotel, they didn’t even provide body cream or a vanity kit, which are basic amenities expected at this level.
Another major disappointment was the room’s lack of privacy. The door of the room was a glass door with curtains behind it, and when you left the room, everyone passing by could see inside, which felt very uncomfortable. The only alternative was to try pulling the curtains behind the door, but this risked tearing them, and I respected the property’s belongings too much to attempt it.
The breakfast is another letdown. It’s very basic, with limited options. They only serve filtered coffee, and you have to pay extra for espresso or other coffee types. They claim the orange juice is fresh, but it’s clearly packaged. The staff, while well-meaning, seem inexperienced, unprepared, and at times a bit rude, which needs significant improvement.
Overall, Ela Tinos is a nice hotel with great potential, enhanced by its good gym and spa facilities, but calling it “luxury” is misleading. For a five-star hotel, the experience is deeply disappointing. They need to significantly improve their hospitality, amenities, staff training, and attention to guest privacy to justify...
