Amazing place. A bit posh for Tinos but very stylish. Service was excellent. Food is high quality, with some very interesting and gourmet choices however is a bit overpriced for the island. Prices are more suitable for a restaurant in Athens rather than tinos. And I am saying so because the island offers a unique food experience overall and you can find amazing food in very very low prices. Rather than that, you should definitely try the kariki cheese with orange marmalade and pepper and the cheek peas in the over...a true revelation! The best part is that along with the kariki cheese they offer an amazing bread with cranberries and nuts...the combination with the cheese is out of this world!! I would suggest the restaurant to serve this bread anyways ..everyone must try it! We also had the zucchini salad but it was a bit failure...too salty!!!! Wine list was also rich with many choices of both expensive and more value for money labels. What I did not appreciate was that they charged us the bread that they offered along with the cheese..we did not ask for it...if it is a choice of the restaurant to offer..and I do believe it deserves to be offered.. it it should be a treat or at least you can add a recommendation in the menu for anyone that wants to order it..and pay it.

It was difficult to select what to eat from Marathia's very inspired and distinct menu options. We decided to go with as much we can eat focusing on variety. The cured fish platter was excellent with increasing intensity of flavours from plate to plate. The tarama cream was as strong and as smooth as it should be. The wild artichoke was an innovative take to a Greek classic. The cod youvarlakia was interesting, bold and perfectly served with soup to make the impression last. The cheese pie made with corn flour was different from what we are accustomed to, but balanced and a smart variation. The star of the night was "Seasar's Salad". The combination of flavours and textures was amazing. I would go back to Marathia just for this plate. Melekouni (thin sesame slices with cream) concluded a great dinner. Service, from welcoming till the very end was exceptional. Very highly recommended.

I have been visiting Tinos and Marathia for the last 17 years, and every single year there is always a new, tasteful dish that makes me look forward to coming back again. On this visit, the highlight was a 2kg fagkri – perfectly fresh, carrying the pure aromas of the sea. It needed no seasoning at all, simply delicious in its own right! We always enjoy the Greek meze philosophy and love sharing a variety of starters. This time, the seafood Caesar salad with homemade taramas sauce was outstanding – the taramas, made from fish eggs, was silky and mouthwatering. The seafood tartar with strawberries was a very interesting and refreshing addition. And of course, you should never miss the traditional cheese pita – a true classic! Of course the desert selection was in high standard gastronomy experience. The pumpkin desert is one of the reasons I will come back next year!

Starting with the positive side... Amazing taramas mushed salad. Also the shrimps and oysters pasta (calamaretti) were really fine as well. Amazing location and astonishing view of the sunset and the sea. Some of the waiters, were really really polite. Now on the points that really need to be taken care of... Due to my preference of the moment I ordered a pork fillet which was really small in portion, was not tender at all, and the fries aside were like 10-11 and didn't seem to be that fresh. In addition, the meat was a bit "smelly ", as pork is, not like "expired" or of bad quality, but annoying. Even if the restaurant is considered a fish-restaurant, the meat options provided should be of equal quality as the fish's and, certainly, not inferior. Along with one of our plates, the waiter brought a serving glass with three cheese -like balls as a garnish.. After three or four minutes, a waiter without saying ANYTHING, got over the shoulder of a lady of the table, grabbed the garnish and simply took it away, and SERVED IT AGAIN to another table. At least we haven't touched the cheese/garnish... The guy didn't even apologize or said anything, but his supervisor did, but still didn't know how to react/respond. While gathering the plates, another waiter dropped the cutlery on me, and he gave me a bored "sorry" in an "I don't care-way". When we were asked about the quality of the food, we didn't even have the time to address our thoughts or complaints, or positive feedback. Asking for the bill, they didn't even offer us a liqueur or a dessert after all that "pleasant" experience. A waiter went to carry some pillows and needed to get out from a secondary door, that he pulled it so heavily and in an angry way, that the door nearly hit a lady sitting on the table next to the door. Rather expensive considering of...

We had a very disappointing experience dining at Marathia. The food was very dull and tasteless while unreasonably overpriced. I have been to many high end restaurants and wouldn't mind the high price if the food was of high quality and tasted excellent and the service was great but that was definitely not the case here.

The worst part was that, even though we had make a reservation days in advance and they told us that they had reserved a really good table for us, they put us to a really bad table. The problem with that table was that it was literally next to a "service table", a table were most servers were standing next to that was used to put dishes, glasses, etc. The result was that 4-5 waiters were literally standing above us talking loudly about their day or even talking in a negative way about other costumers. I couldn't believe what was happening. There was not even music. It was the first time that I couldn't enjoy my time at a restaurant at all and wanted to leave as soon as possible.

My advice to the restaurant is that if you want to market as a fine dine experience and charge accordingly, you need to be able to support that by having a great atmosphere, excellent service and high quality food. Otherwise, it is just a...
